I have been a Cream fan since the band was together. After 25 years, I finally found out what SWLABR stood for. Perhaps someone in Cream fandom can answer this for me: "What does N. S. U. stand for?". If anyone knows, I would be interested in hearing this. Here is some interesting information that I discovered, that I have not seen printed anywhere, and perhaps Cream fans would like to know it. On the Polydor reissue (made in West Germany) of the Cream album "Best of Cream" there are some differences from the original Atco release. The song "I Feel Free" is an alternate mix (very interesting) and the song "White Room" is the full-length album version, not the shortened single version. If anyone knows of any other rarities or other nuances like this, I would like to hear about them.

I read recently that Clapton did the unplugged album to prove to people that there was more to him than getting back with Bruce & Baker and cracking up the amps ,Well their's always ranting on about how great Enoch Powell is,and then playing Delta Blues or wering tuxedo's at the Albert Hall at £50 a Head,1993 gave him an unique excuss to stretch himself .When i here Clapton or Weller mentioned in the same breath as Peter Green who would love a Fleetwood Mac reunion,Which would be better than that "Don't Stop bollocks" You've got to laugh or string up the lazy bastard reporter in question,Maybe he's right he's too old even though he's the youngest,True Gary Moore is no replacement but at least he's had a go.

I visited the site for information and was overwhelmed by the info that is available. I will be featuring the albums, Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire. May CREAM live on for ever.

Dear Mr. Araujo: Many thanks for your work on the site. I was trying to figure out why we spent all this money on the new computer. Now I know. It seems for the past 25 years the critics have all ganged up to decry the age of 15-minute soloes and players who sound like they can't hear each other. Well, I just received the four-CD box for my birthday, and all I can say is hell with 'em. The new guys are fine and dandy, but this is the @#$%. In response to others: we now know SWLABR means "she was like a bearded rainbow", but back in the day we thought it meant "speed with lysergic acid brings rushes". Just a memory from the old farts. NSU is the name of a car company in Neckarsulm, Germany (hence the initials). I don't know if that has anything to do with the song. All my best,

Anaax

It is not an understatement to call Cream the greatest rock band ever. Perhaps Cream was the greatest group of musicians to ever play together-if power and excitement are the criteria of judgment. It is hard to imagine that rock music could be taken to a higher level than that achieved by Cream. There was nothing like them before or after. In an age when it seems like anything can be imitated, ripped off, or reproduced, it is amazing that no drummer has ever come close to the genius of Ginger Baker. Clever forgers can fool the experts with reproductions of the greatest artists, but I've never heard anyone play the drums like Ginger. Thanks for providing this page, and by the way, whoever did the writing has done a great job of capturing Cream's essence in words.

Really cool website. I'll be back to check it out again. Cream is such a great band, their incredible sound can cause such adulation 30+ years later! Hopefully we'll have nanotech Cream devotees in later decades. They had such a heavy blues sound combined with psychedelic recklessness that it was destined to be a classic. Their similarity to Led Zep is striking but Zep's longer album history and therefore maturity of sound gives them the edge in "Great Rock Band of All Time" consideration. But then again Cream didn't go to crap like late Led Zep either. ps-Jimmy Fowler (see previous post) is an evil bastard. He doesn't deserve to listen to a great band like Cream.

Dear Jack, I've been a fan of yours since 1967, not coincidently, the year I started playing bass. I was thirteen years old when I first heard "I Feel Free". I lived near Philadelphia at the time. I would see the ads in the newspapers for Cream's shows at the Electric Factory & later the Spectrum and beg my parents to let me go to one of your concerts. When Cream played it's last Philadelphia show, my 2 closet buddies asked if I wanted to come along. They were both 17 years old, but as I had just turned 15 and it was a school night, my parents would not let me out of the house. Consequently, I never got to see Cream. In March of 1970, I had the pleasure of seeing Jack Bruce & Friends at the Electric Factory. An outstanding rendition of "We're Going Wrong" that night. Unfortunately, I was not yet familiar with your new material other than "Theme For An Imaginary Western", which was the only track played on the radio. I bought "Songs For A Tailor" shortly thereafter. Great stuff, but "Harmony Row" became my favorite. In 1972, I saw you twice w/ West, Bruce & Laing. The second time I saw W,B,&L was in December 1972 at the Spectrum. Who was the asshole who hit you with the pie? What was that all about? You played and sang a fantastic set that night. Where was security? I've always been curious about that incident. Anyway, my hole point is I never got to see Cream, so I should be writing to Clapton's Manager. But, I wanted to let you know I got into Cream primarily because of your contribution to the band. I have enjoyed your music of the span of your career and hope you continue pioneering through the new milleneum. Sincerely, Woody Reppert

I've already signed the guestbook once, but I wanted to answer some questions I saw posted here. Two days ago I bought the remastered version of In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida. In the booklet it said that that the album went gold in 1968, but it didn't go platinum until 1993. I think Elvis actually had the first album to go platinum, but Cream were the first to get plaques for it. I also read on another Cream site that NSU were the initials of a disease Clapton was rumoured to have in the sixties. Well, hope this information has been helpful

i'm going out tomorrow and buy the entire discography, my vinyl is shot. saw 'em at the electric factory then again at chastain park. at the factory i was standing next to the side exit with girlfriend listening to opening act (truckstop?)when someone began banging on the door from the outside. the bouncer opened the door and told someone to go around front. i heard, "but we da cream, we da cream" it was ginger and the boys. the bouncer looked over at me and i shook my head 'yes'. i am sure they appreciated my help. someone asked where the psychedelic sg went - i believe todd rundgren has it (if it hasn't been sold to a restaurant). after playing a lot of different music for the past 20 years and making more records than i can recall, i had an epiphany on the blues this year - "back to where you once belonged". i got out all my old lp's. i have to say that nothing has stood the test of time, for me anyway, like eric with mayall and cream. thanks for a great site, nice work. you harvard guys know how.

Dear Cream site,

I just want to state that for me Cream will allways be the best (rock)group ever. Sunshine of your love has allway been my very favourite and will allways remain so. I still can recall the day that I heard FRESH CREAM for the first time and was overwhelmed by it. Sadly enough I belonged to those who heard too late about de Farewell Concert and missed the whole happening. One of my wishes is a reunion of Cream. I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world. If somebody knows of any recording for the whole length of Sunshine of your love of The Farewell Concert of the Hall of Fame appearance, I'd be more than delighted. I will always be loving Cream.

Having now heard that Eric has split from his manager gives a promising indication that he might be thinking about a Cream reunion, as it was his management that was against the idea in the first place. However, he better think about it fairly quickly because neither himself, Ginger or Jack are getting any younger! I have had thoughts about forming a Cream tribute group (I play drums) since they seem to be in fashion at this present time. However, I have had reservations about such an act however, as to how true Cream fans (myself included) would react, as there is only one CREAM with only one ERIC CLAPTON, one JACK BRUCE and one GINGER BAKER. Fantastic webpage and I hope for some more photos. Cheers!
