Dear Mr Bruce, I am thrilled at the news of your recovering health. My son was born with spina bifada and is paralized from the waist down. I was able to take him to see you on the walk down abby road tour we had front row seats and you did a solo right in front of us. Of course I had to by him an electric bass for Christmas this year. We will see you on your next vist to the Bay area. God Bless you and the Family

Dear Jack:

I've been a huge fan of yours since Disraeli Gears; I was just listening to the CD tonight with a friend - it's my favorite recording of all time, in any genre.

I'd like to know whether you would consider collaborating on a project: I'd like to bring some people together to speculate on what might have resulted from the recording session that was suggested with Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Tony Williams and yourself.

I've submitted a similar inquiry to Wayne Shorter, and to Mitch Mitchell. I'm hoping that Mitch will be willing to contribute his recollections of conversations with Jimi about jazz and music theory, and particularly his knowledge about conversations that took place between Jimi and Miles.

Best wishes for a successful and rapid recovery, Jack!

Sincerely,

James Nichols

I just heard the news quite recently and am very happy you're recovering well. Coming of age at the time Cream came out it was your great playing that made me appreciate how much you did to fill out your band's sound and of course your voice was the signature vocal. I was just listening to Crossroads today and WOW! you tore it up on that song! Thanks for all the great music. Wishing you a continued recovery!

Jack I am very glad to hear that you are doing better since your operation. Hope things continue to go well for you. I have listened to your music since I was ten years old. I have been playing drums for thirty years. Your music and Ginger Bakers drumming have been a big influence on my playing. If I ever had a great bass player in a band it would be you. Hope every thing continues to go well. May the Lord bless you and keep you well.

"Fortunately, Baby!" , indeed!!!

To this date, I have _NEVER_ told my mother she's out of tune. Once, years ago, you were kind enough to stop and say "hello" to an ardent fan in the lobby of the Park West Theatre in Chicago, Illinois while on your way to your afternoon sound check. The evening concert was superb. Your music has affected me profoundly, brings me joy to this day, and I am glad you are still with us.

stay well! an ardent fan (bob)

Mitch Mitchell was on drums, and Larry Coryell on guitar. What a great show! Always enjoyed your tremendous bass work and vocals. A great showman also! Hope you are back 110% soon!

Dear Jack, I am just learning the bass at the tender age of 42 with the guidance of other local Sudbury musicians.

Today we played N.S.U. so I thought it was time to find the bass tab via activebass.org and seek more current information on yourself. Quite a shock to hear of your illness, I hope you are recovering well and will soon be touring again.

You not only are an influence on my playing but the music of Cream was some of the first non-pop music I ever heard and really broadened my musical horizons at the tender age of 12.

Get well soon.

Tim

A while back I was browsing through some music zines and read about your health problem. I was happy to see the news of your recovery on your website today. I played drums in a power trio when I was 19 and my friends and I had "Wheels Of Fire" for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm not kidding Jack, it was our template! My girlfriend and I saw you at the Ivanhoe in Chicago during the 70's on one of your solo tours. Thanks for all your music and be well!!!

Thanks Jack, You are my bass guru: I dropped the drums and took up the bass in 1967 after hearing you play - and never looked back! Always what I call the 'evolving rhythm pattern' that turned me on so much: winding and snaking your way like a bird in flight through the piece, yet still remaining rooted in the solar plexus of the song (and me) - unlike the boring 'rubber stamp' repetitive style used by everybody else. Your bass playing lives, and it lives in me. I owe you. Unfortunately missed meeting (and hopefully jamming with) Ginger in South Africa, where I come from, due to bad planning and extremely sorry about that 'cos he also lives in me - his earthy tom tom style and feel is still my favourite. You two together have formed a foundation of influence for me which still fires me up to this day. You two should've been Jimi's backing: now THAT would've been something! I wish I could meet you someday. Everything of the best, my friend. Wishing you long life and best health. Geof Harris

Dear Jack, News of your transplant came as quite a shock. My favourite composer, singer. Been playing your music since "The Creams". Even like your own albums better. "More Jack than God" is very, very good. Saw you twice in Rotterdam, one time with Leslie West in De Doelen, and with Clem Clempson in Parkzicht. Please be careful with your health, if it means not going on the road - don't. Warm greetings to Margrit and your family. Hope you enjoy a lot more years to come. Martin.

So glad to hear good news. I check in to your website very infrequently and was very saddened to learn of your trouble. It is a shame such a big "pond" separates us! I would go to see you any chance I got. Funny story as I believe I saw you at the Strand in Redondo Beach only twice. I bought tickets once and had a mind fart! I showed up the day AFTER your performance! I felt like such an ASS! To be fair, I often forget what I had for breakfast! God speed and hope to see you in L.A. soon.

I am so glad to hear that Jack is recovering well. I am a big fan. My best memory of Jack was a concert with West, Bruce and Laing in 1972 at the Fox theatre in St. Louis, MO. J.Geils was the warm-up band. That was probably one of the best concerts I have attended. My friends and I still talk about it. Best wishes and a speedy recovery. Larry

Hi Mr. Jack Bruce, I still remember the first time I heard Sunshine of your love. And since then you've always been the best bass player and one of my favorite singer. By the way, I apologize for the couple of bottles of milk I borrowed from you in 1970 in Kensington but I was hungry and it was a manner to leave you an hommage. Recover well, André

Jack, I hope every morning brings you a little more health and strength. You've been an artistic hero of mine since the 60's, and you should know just how much all of your hard work and talent has enriched the lives of me and my friends. You're the king, and, to date, we still have not found a better rock and roll voice.

From beneath the volcano, I wish you the best. Thanks for poetry and the passion. Bob Murray

Hello Jack!, Hope you are feeling better every day!...I've been playing your songs since I started at age 13 in 1966!....In fact I was on a show with you once somewhere in Europe(can't exactly remember what country) during the BBM period(90's).....I was doing a gig the other night and someone yelled 'play some Cream!'....So we played Sunshine Of Your Love and Politician....and it was a blast...the people really dug hearing those tunes!....I wish all the best for you and hope for your continued recovery.....Warm Regards, Michael Katon www.katon.com

Dear Jack,

Thank the higher power that you are OK and on the road to recovery. I have Hep C and my liver levels have remained just slightly elevated for 12 years. But that could change very quickly. I cannot say I know how you feel/felt but I did have some coping to do myself. What I do know is that I will never drink or use again, one day at a time.

I have been fortunate to have seen you perform about 4 years ago at the Hard Rock, in Las Vegas with Ringo. When you and Rudgren played your songs, I experienced what rock n roll heaven was like. Hands down... I know you are the best base player ever. Your voice is pretty terrific too. I can say it again thank G-d you are getting well. I only hope I am fortunate enough to see you perform again any of your music with any configuration of musicians.

If there is ever a Cream reunion, Steve, Bob and Mark will be the guys screaming and fainting! LOL Just like the first concert I ever went to (at Forrest Hills Tennis courts)a Beatles show during thier first tour of the USA, where all the teeny bopper girls cried and screamed, that would be us. We three say, anytime anyplace the cream would play, we are there.

Get well and thank you for all the hours nay days spent listening to your music.

My Best Wishes, Steve Spiegel

Jack, hope you are back to 100% again and making music soon. I e-mailed your booking agent about an idea I had for a band. The band would be comprised of you and Ginger Baker and Mark Stein and Vince Martel formerly of Vanilla Fudge. I have suggested the idea to Mark Stein and I believe he is open to it if a promoter can be found to push the idea.

My suggestion for the name of the band would be Vanilla Cream Fudge, combining the hits of both Cream and the Fudge into one band.

I know the Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert would now have a new Vanilla Fudge will never play with Mark and Vince again and I know Eric will never reform Cream with you guys. So Move on. I think thousands of peopl would pay to see a hybred band like I suggested.

If interested contact Mark Stein @ www.mark-stein.com.

Dear Jack,

I wish you all the best in your recovery. and would also like to take this time to thank you for the years of fine, inspiring music you've given us. I always look forward to more. I've always considered your voice to be one of the most unique and superb voices in rock. I still have vivid memories of your concert in Chicago in 1989 or 90 (with Ginger), at some relatively tiny bar named Biddy Mulligan's. The place was jammed, it was one of the most bitterly cold nights I can remember, your bus was late, the crowd was a disrespectful, unruly bunch. But then the music started, and suddenly everyone remembered just who they were listening to. I remember you being superb that night, and the second half of the show, when Ginger also played, was truly one the most mystical musical experiences of my life.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Please get well, and bless us with more of your music.

Most sincerely,

Jim Doherty

Hello Jack,

Sending you good vibes and well-wishing. Heard you and Cream in Des Moines, Iowa, in `68. I've always enjoyed your bass playing and singing, Jack. Thanks for all the good music. I hope your creative well continues to be full, and that you have a great adventure in this life.

All the best. Walk in Beauty, Peace. Scott

Being one of Jack's greatest fans I was extremely happy to find out he was doing well. I have been a blues vocalist/guitarist for thirty years, and one of my most prized posessions is his autograph I got from him when I (my trio) opened a show for him at the Agora in Cleveland 1980. It says " To Todd - He ain't the Richmond", (ref: Songs for a Tailor). It hangs framed on my wall today. After touring with Savoy Brown as lead vocalist for many shows, I still return to the music I love the most and the great freshness his music meant to me. I wish the very best for him and hope he knows his energy and voice, are and always will be a deep source of inspiration to me. Looking forward to hearing updates or any communication. I can be reached: www.toddhart.com or my email:info@toddhart.com Thanx, and all the best, Todd

1.may.04 just read about the transplant. thank God everything is ok. i'll take this chance to say "Thank You", Jack... tomorrow i'll be 48 years old,and for 38 of those 48 you've been an important influence. listening to your music is always like going home, i always return to a special room in my heart, my soul, somewhere deep inside, someplace very beautiful, and your voice, and your music is the only bridge to that very special place. i was born and grew up in new york but have been living in germany for quite a while now. you are one of the reasons that i became an artist and musician. (i wish sometimes you'd written a song which would have warned me a bit more clearly about what an incredible pain in the ass it is being an artist! but then again, you did sing "born under a bad sign".) Jack. i really do thank God that you are here.it's very strange to feel so very close to someone you`ve never met. you are a part of me just as my parents and brothers are. as long as i live i`ll have that special place in my heart to go to when things are good or when there bad. Jack, you built that place. Thank you. Please get well soon. wishing you health, peace, and love. - jeff turek

Jack, I am 50 and been enjoying your music since I was about 15 or 16; in fact, I was listening to Theme From An Imaginary Western today. Though we've never met, you and the millions of other 60's/70's brothers that I've never met all mean so very, very much to me. When I get to heaven, it won't be heaven if you and they aren't there. I actually have cried every single time I hear of one of our great musicians leaving this earth. I would miss you, too. So I send you my love, I ask God to bless you, heal you, and give you many more wonderful years upon this earth. Your grateful admirer and friend, An Old Hippie, Dean From Abilene (Glenn Dean Ball) commtech@nts-online.net
