Hello Jack:
Iam very happy to write a few words to you and it will be a honor if you can reply this e-mail. I always considered you the best bass player ever since I first heard Cream( probably one of the greatest band of all times). So glad that you are on the road along with Andy Summers, a fine musician too. I wonder if you could think to comr to Brazil in a tour, where you have thousands of fans like me, eager to see you play at least once, and where Eric Clapton performed an unforgettable show last October. Anyway, in this new year I wish you the best of the luck and healthiness, hoping that your talent and your music fulfill my soul as always. God bless you and the people you love. Big hug from a big fan. Regards, Gilberto

Just wanted to note that Jack and Company put on a hell of a show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. I've seen Jack 11 times now, and I was blown away with the power and passion of his voice at this outing. It's the best it's ever been. I thought he was going to blow the back wall down with his stuning rendition of We're Going Wrong. I had shivers u pand down my spine all night. And Milonga just about drove me to tears, it was so beautiful. The band was fantastic. I know Vernon is sort of an acquired taste, but, man, the guy can really play - even if its on Pluto, half the time. And Bernie was consistently innovative with those roller coaster riffs and I dug the the percussion, too. I mean, really dug it! They must have all been telepathic because it was just dead-on perfection. For anybody who has ever seen Santana or The Dead, or the Allman Bros - Jack's guy's will be a real revelation. Anyway, all I can do is thank the man, who showed up on a Monday night, the worst night of the week, to play his heart and guts out for all of we True Believers. It was beyond words, beyond expression, simply pure poetry in motion. And, Jack, thanks for coming back for the second encore. What a class act!

Hi
This is my first visit to the sight but I am a long standing Jack Bruce fan. I play bass and learned my craft from the dual Gods of Jack and Andy Fraser. I have just purchased a Warwick and Jack had a hand in influencing my decision (If its good enough for Jack Bruce..as they say) When are you coming back to Scotland Jack? Can you remember playing and living at the Kaim Park hotel?Peace and love to Jack and his family and all visitors to these pages.

What's with the God stuff...do you realize how many people you offend when your bring your PERSONAL views to a forum, such as this, which is NOT about exploring or expressing one's beliefs...keep to the point and don't insult the music or the man, nor should you take the focus off the man...you have each other's e-mail addresses, so why don't you correspond and stop showing your ignorance. It is better to be quiet and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and prove it (paraphrase/A.Lincoln)...get it!!!!
LOVE JACK AND HIS MUSIC...PEACE TO ALL IN 2002!

Hi Jack, I know this is really a far stretch but I don't know how else to do it! I'm desperately trying to find a way to send a demo of my guitar playing to either you or at least your management.. I know you obviously have your pick of any guitar player you might want to play with in the world, but since I am still young and relatively unknown I know you would never get to hear what I have to offer you. I'm 26 and have been a fan for years now, I've heard most of the guitar players you've worked with and I understand what you like and I think my style is more of what your looking for than some others I have heard. My style is quite a bit like Hendrix but it really is combination of many of the greats (Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Moore, Saranceno, Etc.) BUT I do have my own style. I play with lots of emotion, soul, I love to improvise and I have a deep understanding of the blues. Anyways, given the opportunity to let you hear what I can do I know you would be very pleased and probably would be interested in at least some sort of jam or audition or something. Yes it's a dream, but I am absolutely certain Jack would be interested. If anyone could inform me on how I would be able to get some cassete or CD to jack or his management I would really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Hi. This is my first time to the site and so id thought id write a little. Well, recently, i became aware of music i never knew was out there... stuff before my time (before the 80's). I started lisening to Cream and other group mainly from the 60's. Because of Jack's bass playing, i decided id like to learn bass, which im doing now. Since i like Cream so much, i also decided to find out more on each member. I absolutly love everything Jack has done and id just like to say thanks for "introducing" me to real bass music and just music in general. Later

I'm sitting alone in a dark room, listening to "No Answer" by Mike Mantler, when Jack's voice transports me to a private corner of the universe all of my own. Suddenly, I realised that at that particular time (I believe it was a Thursday), I was surely the only person on the entire planet Earth that was totally absorbed by J.B.'s vocalization of Sam Beckett's "How it Is". And that made me feel special for that instant of time. It was one of tjose 4AM moments when everything comes into focus for a brief "snap of the fingers" insight. And so, as "No Answer" fades out from my stereo speakers, it occurs to me that it might be aneat idea to have a secret legion of Jack's world-wide army of fans who all listen to a certain J.B. song at the same synchronized time----every day, thereby generating a cosmic ripple of good vibes powered by Jack's magic music.
Maybe some of it would rub off on the real world!
So, I'll meet you in a "White Room" (new version from SITA) @4:20pmEST----every day. Let's see how many different life-tracks can share the same soundtrack. We won't be alone. Cheers, Jimmy Jet

Hi JB fans
I grew up listening to Hendrix, Cream, Free, Zep etc. The influence of those bands had a great influence on my life and how I perceive music today....ie most of it cannot compare and is total crap...musical snobbery I admit but unfortunately its a fact. Music companies have killed the game. Anyway, being a bass player I have always considered JB as my major influence along with Andy Fraser of Free, one of the most underatted players ever. Can anyone out there tell me if they have found an Andy Fraser site? Peace and love to all

Finally managed to track down a copy of 'Shadows in the Air', and what an amazing album it is! The old songs sound fresh, the new stuff is scarily good, too. Bought it last weekend, it hasn't been out of the CD player in the car since!
I struggled to find the album - eventually got it from a specialist shop which also had a CD copy of 'Songs for a Tailor' for £8.99. Now THAT album takes me back!

How does one properly address one of the biggest influences in his life? Jack, I've admired your music, intellect and passion since I was 14 (I'm 9 yrs younger than you). My life's dream was to see you in concert with Cream, but not realising it, had the good fortune of seeing you at New York's Bottom Line, with David Sancious (what's he up to now?), Billy Cobham and others in 1979. You were great. You still are. Best wishes to you! Keep up the great work!

The war - the anger- the - exploitations this is a great album, and i do like Ginger on the drums and wish you would all try to love and play again - peace

In 1980,Jack recorded a Billy Cobham composition titled "Wind and the Sea". It's hard to believe that Billy wrote such a beautiful song. When he penned this tune he must have been inspired by the photo spread inside the cover of 1971's "Harmony Row". Roger Brown's shot of Jack gazing out to sea is captured so well in Billy's lyrics. Does anyone have a story connecting the two works of art?

Jack--
I have recently learned from a friend who saw your show in LA that you passed through Chicago. I can't believe I missed you! Any chance you'll get back to the states for some additional shows this year?
I was also extremely pleased to learn that "Songs for a Tailor" is available on CD-- I was told a year or two ago that it was out of print! Needless to say, I have already ordered my copy.
You are one of the finest bass players to ever take up the instrument and you have been a huge influence both on my playing style and perception of music as a whole. Stay well and have a great 2002!
And come back to Chicago soon!
Sincerely,
Chris

I sit and wait for the transformation, from winter to spring- from death back to life, wishfully thinking that I will also be transformed from single, to girlfriend, to soulmate- Who knows...who knows... It's three minutes to Spring and I'm still flooding kleenex after kleenex...My nose running rivers, my eyes runneth over... I'm still waiting patiently for Love. I spy unusual birds, blue-black crows, two of them, walking along- two of them fluttering off. Now there's something you don't see everyday in New York.
Happy V-Day, all you Happy Couples! Blessed Be!

I'm glad Jack Bruce is back. I want to buy the new disc. I got to see Bob Dylan in Charleston, WV, (USA) last week, it was awesome. Is Jack coming to the USA, especially anywhere in Ohio? I saw him with Ginger Baker in Columbus, Ohio in 1989 live in concert, Beau

Hey Derek .This has always been a friendly site. It's not your fault but there are some weird people out there in Netland that are appearing on the site. Positively there is no artist like Jack Bruce. Always combining great playing with inventive lyrics...truly something unique. As a drummer I'm obviously influenced by Ginger Baker, but as a musician (some may say drummers are otherwise) Jack is a revelation. One of my dream bands would include Graham Bond with Cream. Another would have been Jack with Hendrix and Mitchell. Being a fan of Mitch's drumming I can only imagine what one of Jack's solo albums would have sounded like with him on traps. Thanks for the music, so full of great memories.

IN 1967 WHEN CREAM PLAYED SEATTLE, I WAS 12 AND MY DAD WOULDNT LET ME GO.........IN THE 70,S I FOUND OUT A DAY AFTER WEST, BRUCE AND LAING PLAYED AT HEC EDMUNDSON PAVILLION AND OF COURSE IT WAS TOO LATE......BAD........IN THE 90'S I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE JACK AGAIN WITH THE RINGO STARR TOUR IN SEATTLE AND HAD DOUBLE PNEUMONIA......WOE IS ME. THE LAST BUNCH OF YEARS IVE BEEN LOOKING CONSTANTLY AT TOUR SCEDULES AND THE PACIFIC NW DOESNT SEEM TO CROP UP ON THE OLD SCHEDULE ANY MORE. I KNOW HOW WHINY THIS ALL SOUNDS BUT AS A 30 PLUS YEAR HUGE FAN OF JACKS TALENT I FEEL CHEATED AT NEVER HAVING SEEN HIM LIVE. ALSO WONDERING IF THERE EXISTS ANY LIVE FOOTAGE OF WEST, BRUCE AND LAING. I HAVE A LOT OF OTHER GREAT FOOTAGE FROM CREAM AND THE 70'S, BBM ETC BUT NOTHING FROM WB&L. IF YOU READ THIS JACK........OR IF YOUR STAFF FEELS INCLINED TO REPLY WITH LEADS ON ANY HARD TO FIND VIDEO OR MUSIC, THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC. THANKS AGAIN MR. BRUCE FOR AN AMAZING CAREER AND ALL THE THOUSANDS OF JOY HOURS YOU HAVE GIVEN ME AND YOUR FANS.

Of course I swiped very lick Jack Bruce played when I was learning the bass more than 30 years ago. As part of my evolution as a musician I have found it difficult to get out from under his magnificent influence and sound like myself. Every once in awhile at a gig, though, I have to blow off a West/Bruce/Laing or Cream-style riff. Gets attention, ya'know.

I just wanted to drop you a line Jack and say thank you. You have been an inspiration to me for a long time and have motivated me to start playing the Bass at the ripe old age of 32. It may not seem like such a big deal except that I have played drums for the last 19 years, so the bass is a bit different to say the least. Even as a drummer you were always been one of my favorite musicians. It's funny because I love your solo work but of course the first stuff I heard was Cream, which I love. Guys at work make fun of me for liking a band so much that broke up the year before I was born! Anyway, my goals is to become a good enough bass player to lay down my own bass tracks and maybe do some studio work; hell, I might even find a couple guys and start a band! Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all the years of great music. (p.s.-maybe we can jam together someday?)

I have several albums that Jack is on after Cream, BUT, I have to admit, being 15 at the time Cream was at its zenith, I'm most familiar with Jack's fantastic playing with Cream. I saw Cream in Baltimore MD in November 1968, a concert I will never forget. I was always most impressed with Cream's live improvisations, and felt that Jack and Ginger Baker were probably most responsible for this type of playing. This is all coming from a drummmer who was heavily influenced by .... Ginger Baker at the time! I saw the personnel on Jack's newest CD, which means I'm going to have to do some ordering soon. Jack, keep playing your great music!!

Jack, There are going to few lots of devastated people over in Australia if the tour doesn't happen. I'm sure that you and the band would love it here as do many international artists who come here regularly. Put us out our misery and let us know what's happening. There have been a few false starts in the past two years with the ultimate rock symphony, ringo and hot flash tours never happening so please consider Australia as the next tour venue. I'm sure everyone would love to hear from you on Jack's diary and get some feedback from all the messages you get and your gigs.

Hi Jack and freinds, I recently dusted off my old "Jack Bruce at His Best" LP and was transported back to better times. I got up on the internet and was horrified to realize that Harmony Row and Out of the Srorm are not available on cd. Songs for a Tailor is only available on German import. Maybe Rhino Records could to a repackage job on these. I have no idea about the legal issues involved, but it sounds like a good idea. Anyway, nice web site. I'm planning to pick up the latest cd on my way home tonight. Cheers!

Please take a moment to send an email to program director Eric Wellman (ericwellman@clearchannel.com) and encourage your friends to do the same... Maybe if he hears from enough of us, he'll make room on his play list for some really tasteful music!

A number of years ago, I went to see the Dickey Betts Band (Allman Brothers guitarist)at the Roadhouse Cafe in NYC. There were a few guest stars such as Mick Taylor, Rick Derringer and the great Jack Bruce. I remember Dickey played with everyone, but just stood on the side in awe of Jack Bruce, a musician Dickey looked up to when he was starting out. I, too, was in awe. I got a chance to meet Jack after the show. I put meeting him on top of my all time list (I've met many celebrities) but still it was my biggest thrill. By the way, Jack played "Spoonful" that night. He probably didn't know it then, but Sylvester Stallone and his friends blew into the Roadhouse just when Jack came on and loved it. He disapeared as fast as he entered. I guess nothing could top it. So, Jack, thanks for that evening and all the great music you've created through all these years. I'm still a fan of yours. Your solo stuff is great. And BBM was a cool venture. Keep it up, Jack. I bet the expence of getting a band plus all needed equiptment and crew to Oz is pretty steep. The real trouble,I think,is promoters. They are so afraid of losing money.Very few bands get rich on the road.Mostly they just hope that they don't lose money.

Hi everone, I am as surprised and dissapointed that Oz is not only at the bottom of the world but also bottom of the list (or now not even on the list). Geographics has nothing to do with committment.Jack is on the record when he did the dotcom interview where he recognised that he had a strong fan bass in Oz,that he couldn't tour in the past but would be definitely getting there with the current tour. I think better communications would have made us Oz "friends" feel more comfortable with the BB King shows in June. Maybe Jack and the band are still coming to Oz but they have had to set the dates back?..Derek or Jack can you update us with 2002 plans and if Oz is still on the agenda and if not why have we slipped off the list? If the expense of touring Oz is the issue (and I would have thought that Jack was above that materialistic bass),then what about an up close and personal solo tour like the Koln concert (I still sit in awe when I watch the video of that concert) . Kind Regards, Dennis

cream was it back in early 1968 for me and my crew in san francisco. i went to see them perform at winterland and the fillmore as often as possible. Yes, under the influence of something made it a special evening. they played a date with the original blood sweat and tears. they shared a bill with the velvet undergound. oh yeah, on a sunday afternoon, that show set me back $2.50
in fact,i attended the winterland date that produced parts of wheels of fire.
after 35 years and growing, i never get tired of listening to crossroads.

Hi All , And to Pete Lee ,Thank God Jack exists indeed !Jack has been a major influence in the industry for 40 years and managed to survive where others have unfortunately not. Have you seen Jack Live ?In Oz we rely on old vinyl (as the record companies wont release many on CD),CD's where they are available locally or by import and a network of "friends" who trade what we have.I have in excess of 140 CD's where JB is the main performer or guest and would pass them in to see this creative genius live.(I paid the equivalent of $122 dollars US to get "Things We Like" from Japan). The issue here is lack of communications when Oz was on the list for touring aqnd then deleted. If the promoters were concerned about touring costs then why build Australian fans hope up of a tour ! I speak for many that this has ripped our guts out that we may never have the opportunity of seeing the person whose music and philosophical views transformermed us from the 60's to 2002. Pete your comment was real that we are rewarded by having Jack still with us but it also "stank" of get over it.. I wont on behalf of Autralian fans ,we have been ill informed, and let down when we our hopes were high. However I wish all who attend the BB King concerts a great time. Regards Dennis

Jack Bruce was the most influencial person for me playing bass guitar. When I heard your sound for the first time, man, I could not believe it. From that very second I heard Crossroads, then Spoonful, I knew I was playing the bass. I am very satisfied with what I learned by just listening to you. The best compliment I ever had when playing a show was, "Man, you've got that Jack Bruce thing down!"

Hi Jack. You and the band sounded fantastic @ BB Kings on Dec 12. I couldn't sleep for hours afterward it was so good. It always amazes me how you play your hits like you wrote them about a week ago ! Stuff still sounds fresh and exciting . I actually won the contest back in September to see you in Britain , alas I coudn't go , but it got it cancelled anyway , so I didn't feel too bad ! I had the thrill of meeting you in the dressing room @ The Bottom Line back on Oct 11 1988, again after another fantastic couple of shows, the first of which EC showed up as a surprise guest. Look forward to seeing you @ BB's in June. Matt Matt - NYCu
