Dear lovely JACK BRUCE! Let me call you so and the reason is that first I heard you in far,far 1969-s,when your disk "Fresh Cream" appeared.I was shocked.I opened something new for me,something unknown at that it was unlike the other music, music which being unlike the other, impressed me,by it sinkere kindness. And when I saw your photo, can't forget it till nowadays.Every time, having got your next disk with great difficully,as the prices were and remain today too high(but usually it takes a lot of time before we can listen to your next disk) I immersed in your music world and imagined as if,I were together with you. Unforgettable time! You had everything on your way:success and disappointment, but the time proved that your are "the qiants of music"! I am glad with to every you success still many ,many years.I always wanted to know about your as much.I'm interested in both:your life and work. Will you, please help me ,if it's possible to know more about you not only as a musitian but as a person. We can understand music though the musitians thoughts and soul even if we don't understand the words in English.I would like to speak with you about everything. But it's a pity it's not possible to write everything in a letter. A letter is the only means communication with you... The only hope to meet you and to speak with you it's your concert. But in fortunately it's very difficult.Heardly I when nor be able arrive in England single hope if you will arrive in Russia,we without fall a meet.Dreams... It is difficult for you to understand as it was earlier in the USSR (Soviet Union), with what difficulties to us the next albums of you reached. I remember those times when each new album got with the big work. Now them it is possible the find - truth bad piracy copies from China. In expensive dear shops it is possible to order and buy original disks, but they cost stand even more expensively the present true price... Now much has changed, I could see you "alive" in video, but remained as before impossibility to receive the autograph of you. I always dreamed, if not you then though musician you which works I really love and with pleasure I listen when some day will come and in my small world of the admirer you as a photo with his its autograph. But apparently it only dreams - miracles simply do not happen, and if are that only for " the elected public. But all the same, my love to music you remain with me for ever. And let dreams will not come true, but I trusted, and the belief and hope die the last... .My letter means you have reached, but I hoped to receive from your autograph-for me it is a limit dreams. With music of you I have lived the most part of the life and I wanted to have a part of this life having touched again by those unforgettable years of our youth by which part and were you.Forgive me,if I am too persevering. The you for me always was and will be that light with what the man lives. The thank for that you is.Let always success and our love will be with you.

Dear lovely JACK BRUCE!I'm very sorry, but I have a request for you. Will you please send me your photo with your original autographs or just an answer on my letter. For me it would like... a present equal "the flight to the moon"! Oh,GOD!But it's just a dream,I even can't hope for it.There are no miracles in reality!? Having finishing my letter let me wish you everything a person can wish to his friends:a successful work and a lot of happiness in your life, and also to continue gladden your admirers with your songs.Thank the time thas has presented us such a wonderful musician and man.I want you to be happy and always young! We love and always will be with you.

Ever' your Helen.

Jack, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for reuniting with Ginger and Eric. I just finished watching the DVD of the Royal Albert Hall Concerts this past May. Wow. It was extremely moving to see the three of you on the same stage again. Your joy came through in your music. I am fortunate enough to have been able to purchase tickets (sec. 49 row H seats 1-3) to your upcoming shows here at Madison Square Garden. I will be attending Opening Night with my two sons ages 19 and 17. It will be the first Cream concert for the three of us! I'm "only" 45. I look forward to sharing in your joy that night and I wish you all the Health and Happiness life has to offer. Frank Bisceglia

Jack, Belated congratulations on your successful continuing recovery. When I read about your liver transplant it struck a bit of a chord with me as I have hep c and may be in a similar situation one day. I've been listening to Wheels of Fire quite a lot lately, and I'd like to thank you for your part in creating an amazing piece of work that's been a substantial bit of my life's soundtrack. May your recovery continue smoothly.

Thanks for everything.

Dear Jack,

I'll start off by saying that although I'm only 29, Cream is one of my favorite all-time bands. I've been listening to you guys since I was 13, and I continue to listen again and again. As a guitar and bass player, you guys have also been incredibly influential in my playing. Thanks for the music!

I'm going to finish by begging you to PLEASE bring Cream to play the Chet Helms Tribal Stomp in San Francisco on 10/30!!!! It would be wonderful for "youngsters" such as myself who never had a chance to see Cream live back in the 'day. :-)

Regardless, take care and keep on rockin'!

Thanks,

Andrew

Dear Sir, Mr. Bruce, These words come with utmost humility and respect. If, by any chance, you are actually associated with this web site, I cannot convey how strongly and deeply your voice, strength, presence and confidence are ETERNALLY inscribed in the consciousness of your legion of fans here in the US (listening to Cream on my iPod as we speak). You, your work and your voice....oh my God, you cannot know how many of us revel in what you have contributed. Can/do you know know how much we respect and appreciate what you have given us? What you have contributed can never be replaced. If, in fact this site is affiliated with Mr. Jack Bruce, then ask him to sit back, smile, and appreciate/acknowledge how many millions of us are eternally indebted to his gifts to us. God Bless and, if you do receive this, just try and comprehend the depth to which you have affected/infected all of us here in the US.

May you live long enough to fully realize and appreciate your contribution.

Most Respectfully,

Jack, I had the great pleasure to see Cream twice. First in 1968 at Kiel Opera House here in St. Louis then again in Chicago at the Collesuem on the farewell tour. In the nearly 40 years after, I have all of your recordings, band and solo. You remain the most talented musician I have ever seen or heard. My wife and I are great fans, we love you Jack.

It was a marvellous experience to watch Cream's re-union concert on BBC 4 - I still remember the 1968 'farewell concert'and felt somewaht nostalgic that the band nad split up so soon. I've always told my three sons (aged 18- 24) - all of whom are keen Cream fans - that Jack's genius as bass player and vocalist as least matched that of Clapton on the guitar. I regret not following his career after West, Bruce and Laing and will now catch up.

I never realised that Jack studied at the RASMD (Glasgow Music Academy) though very briefly. My eldest son was taught there on the same instrument as Jack, the Cello

In its main foyer the Aacdemy has a hall of fame - photos of celebrated actors and musicians educated there (eg Tom Conti) Despite the brevity of his stay perhaps a place should be found for Jack?

Just watched the dvd. This has been a phenomenal time warp exercise where 38 years of maturity in musicianship have added tremendously to what was already landmark material from the 3 of you back in the 60's.Its more than the music. Its about the effects of 38 years and all the life experience contained in those years on 3 musicians lives. Brilliant outcome. Well done for doing it!

Hello, Jack Bruce! Here in Rio, the expectations regarding the coming-soon fantastic Cream's three-days shows makes me feel a strange, unique feel - that of when I was a boy and my older brother told me, "hey, Carlos, listen, now you'll hear this supertrio, the Cream; see? The bass player SOLOS while he plays, and plays exciting grooves too, keeping the bassist's tradition but creating a new, innovative way of playing, never seen before, such a lead voice, competing with the guitar in a fire only existed with traditional upright jazz bass players! Hey, dig this"!..., and put on the turntable I'M SO GLAD, where the as strong as iron power of your left hand, Jack, produced those amazing speeded up improvisations in such a short period of time...

Later on, I discovered your jazz side too, such as OVER THE CLIFF, STATUES, THINGS WE LIKE...Oh, God, all that powerful sound coming from a blues/rock player like you! Your performances live with Larry Corryell and John McLaughlin should be put on market as DVDs, although, sure, this jazz/rock/r&b/blues side of your personality (as in the OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST 1975 show...) seems to be really the focal point of your music!

Thank you very much. God bless you. God bless Eric and Ginger. A happy, incredible show at the Madison Square Garden! "Feedback" is a more than fitting title for this page! We all rememember the feedbacks and distortions of POWERHOUSE SOD and...surely, the Cream's ALBERT HALL and MADISON SQUARE sound also has a characteristic approach to these wild, unexpected moments. New adjectives have to be created to praise Jack Bruce's music!

I actually have the same music taste as most of my friends parents! You will always be my main source of inspiration when im playing bass. Thank you ever so much!

Jack Bruce proved that he still is the Cream of the Crop. The DVD at RAL was great to see Cream, they should of spent more camera time on Jack Bruce then god.

Martha Stewart is Eric Clapton's Groupie and Cream needs to get more time in and tour.....3 nights at the MSG is crap and the ticket prices are a joke.

If Cream members need the money go tour like every one else.

To Jack the Bruce, Greetings Jack!!! My purchase of 2 Cream tickets for the MSG show over the internet was a venture I hope was made in good faith by the modest scalpers. A mere 30% markup. I will be travelling from the tarsands to NY city to see you. I am taking my pastor who spends most of his time helping the poor and the homeless. He deserves the honor of seeing the Cream live! He knows excellence when he sees it. Cream is greater than the sum of its individual parts. No band has synergy like the Cream Team.

Jack,

After listening to the RAH CD and watching the DVD several times, you are still the greatest! I was in a power trio in 1968, that was formed when a band had a prom dance gig, and the guitarist was the only one to be able to make it, finding out two days before that his bandmates couldn't make the gig. He called me (a bassist) and asked if I could do the prom. I asked who was the drummer, and he BS'ed, because he knew I REALLY didn't like the chosen drummer. The guitarist had to do a BS song and dance to the drummer, too. The night of the gig, the drummer and I figured the ruse out. We did the gig anyway. Point of the story is not bassists and drummers who do not always get along! The only songs the three of us all knew were Cream songs. We did a small-town, three-hour formal prom by jamming every Cream song we could think of! The kids LOVED it! It was more of a show than a dance. I should say the drummer/vocalist was the best in the state (Oklahoma), and the guitarist/vocalist was top-rated, too. I, the bassist thought of myself as no slouch, although nowhere near your caliber. But, I listened to Cream, practiced, and would like to think I got the "spirit" of your style, if not all the notes. Six months later, the three of us formed a band (the guitarist was prone to booking gigs without a band), and played a first gig doing the same thing as before: all Cream. We did "Toad" and the drummer was so impressive, we were known as the band who played Toad. So, that became our name, and now, also 37 years later, Bruce Hueston (drummer par excellance) and I remain best friends! Frankly, I was happiest to hear you and Ginger are buddies again! Best regards, and keep on rockin'!

Dave Pye

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 21 2005--

Dear Jack Bruce, I would suggest, without any naive or aggressive "authority" that, after Cream's coming-soon Madison Square Garden shows, you engage yourself, with or no Clapton and Ginger, in alternatively dynamic venues and styles; say, as even in Cream's heydays, Jack, it would be fascinating again: Jack Bruce plays the Spectrum with Leslie West...or "Jack Bruce plays the stage by storm in a live outdoors concert with Tinsley Ellis, John Mayall or Rusty Zinn"...your bass style is incredibly versatile, and such "alternate takes" would induct one to think, "will Jack Bruce play another electrifying bass solo? Will B.B.King and Jack duel in "Three O"Clock Blues" or Bobby "Blu" Bland's "That's the Way Love Is" or "Don't Cry No More"? Or "Will Jack play a bass solo as in "Everybody Wants To Know Why I Sing the Blues"?

As in the old Cream and Jack's peak of his prowesses! Congratulations, and a very good health, success and success from Carlos Bill.

Jack, My brother Kim introduced me to your music (to you) in the 60's and we've followed you since. Last month he died at 52yrs. from liver cancer and your music has sustained me: slowly bleeding off my grief with every hearing of a special mix of your saddest, most torchured, songs that I put together from Songs For A Tailor, Out Of The Storm, Shadows in the Air, Willpower, Something Els and BBM and dedicated to my brother Kim. The hair literally stands up all over my body at times, and it's all I can do to not begin to sob at other times. Every time I hear "Sky has gone bad from the good times we've had burning bright, SUCH GOOD TIMES . . ." I think about all the great times I had with my brother. Thank you. Above all, your song "The Best Is Still To Come" lifts me out of any shade of saddness. Keep sing, Jack! Just keep singing!!

I spent my teens watching you, Ginger & Eric in Alexis Korner, Graham Bond & John Mayall bands and then of course Cream. Seeing the Albert Hall concert (on DVD) is a fantastic treat. A truly magical performance and probably better than the old days. Congratulations. PS Why don't you bring the show to Oz?

Jack! Welcome Back! Have been a fan since age 10 in '68 and had always hoped since seeing you in Philly '72 w/West & Laing (first of many times) that MAYBE, someday it would be with CREAM. What a thrill to see those 5 letters up on the Garden's marquee in lights Monday night. Made sure I had seats on your side of the stage. Way to bring down the house! And thanks for adding "Tales..." Perfect! Needless to say, I and countless others around me at the show, on the train, etc., etc. hope you continue together. Regardless, many thanks! At least I fulfilled a lifelong dream, and hopefully will still be hearing you in concert for many years to come. God Bless!

I wonder if Jack remembers his Bellahouston Academy days when we travelled in his brother's red open top sports car, from the Mossheights to the St Andrews Hall in Glasgow with Jack,s cello sticking out the back. I suppose this is a sign of old age when you start thinking back but it was nice to see Jack on TV last week.

Hope you (Jack) are keeping well.

Best wishes

Cream at Madison Square Garden - Tuesday, October 25, 2005. I returned home from the concert a few hours ago. Took my wife and 2 kids. Jack, Eric, and Ginger performed an excellent show. Everyone enjoyed one of the best concerts any Cream fan could have hoped for. Great songs, great sound, great musicianship, great band, great fun!

37 years ago, at age 13, I saw the Cream Farewell Concert, on November 2, 1968 at the same place, Madison Square Garden. I thought I'd seen the last of this most amazing band back then. I brought my ticket stub from 1968 along with me tonight(as well as my family) for the 2005 Cream Reunion. What a great music legacy Cream and this live concert has passed on to my young adult children. My 19 year old guitar player son, has been a tremendous Cream fan for many years. It did not appear that there would ever be a reunion to attend with him. My wife and daughter were also mesmerized by the performance. Thanks to Jack, Eric, and Ginger for the chance for all to share in this wonderful music and band once again.

Best Wishes and Good Health to ALL! The Kings

Jack,

Never having seen Cream live before (I'm 44, and was just a kid when you broke up), I saw you guys last night in the Garden (the Tuesday show) and was just blown away, especially by you. It was like, you were up there to show every young rock 'n roll "pretender" how it SHOULD be done, and you damn well did it!

I never thought I could ever feel I'd get my money's worth for a $200 ticket (a gift from my girlfriend), but you put on a $1000 show (even from where *I* was sitting, which was slightly behind the-- thankfully, open-- stage).

Most of those Cream tunes sound as fresh today as they did nearly 40 years ago and that, of course, is the mark of great art. Now, I don't want to sound too greedy here (and I'm sure I'm at least the hundred thousandth person to ask this) but how about you guys getting together to write some new stuff???

Anyway, thanks for a great show, Mark Spiegel New York, NY

I hope you felt the love and joy from the audience - although we weren't as loud as I've heard at other shows, it was due to the reverence we felt for the occasion and the fact that we were mesmerized by the music. Hello Jack, Congratulations on a super sucessfull re-union tour, albeit far to short on venues. I have seen Eric many times in Toronto and saw you in Cream back in 1967/8 in Southampton's Guild hall. The most amazing discovery I have come up with is that in either '65 or '66 I played in a Band in the UK called "Change" out of Southampton. We opened for The Graham Bond organization in Basingstoke,(I think), and we didn't know we were on the same stage as you and Ginger who were going to be a part of the greatest super group "Cream". If only we had known. I would loved to have seen the New York show. Please see it is released on DVD. I have the Royal Albert Hall DVD and it is amazing. Next tour, please remember Toronto. All the best Jack. Rock hard & play loud. John.

Dear Jack,

Thanks for fulfilling my dream of being able to hear CREAM again for the first time since Nov. 4th 1968 (Madison Sq. Garden then too). I was at the opening Monday 10/24 concert. I was so happy and you guys were so good I could hardly stand it. Contributing to my joy was having my 18 year old son Jake with me. Jake began playing cello at age 7, and he developed an intrest in rock a little later on too. So he heard all of my CREAM albums. When he was 13 I got him a vintage 1970 Gibson EBO, and he is a pretty decent bass player too. My excitement at the concert was matched by his own. I had told him that the reality would be even better than the Legend, and he was blown away. It was a thrill for us to be there together. Thank you and Ginger and Eric for the great music and the great father/son experience. We hope you go on feeling well and making great music for many years to come. If you (and any family) ever come to the beautiful state of Maine to relax in a quiet place, I'd be happy to get you the best lobster around.

Best wishes...Richard Derector PS Back "in the day" I heard you play with CREAM, West, Bruce and Laing, Tony Williams Lifetime, and Jack Bruce and Friends (the Larry Coryell, Mitch Mitchell version at the Fillmore East).

Jack, I've had the good fortune to attend the Tuesday night reunion at RAH and again on Wednesday night at MSG. I can't put into words good enough to express my feelings on the music and just the great aura I felt at both concerts. I was an Eric Clapton Fan (think I'm the oldest on any of these sites) after hearing a street musician at Portabella (sp?) Road Market playing Promises in 1993. My oldest daughter (she just turned 50yrs) and her husband are Cream fans and she & I attended the RAH reunion. She and her husband and I attended MSG on Wed. I can't thank you enough for the joy seeing and hearing the three of you have given me. I have the DVD and play "I'm sittin on top of the world" ove and over, I love it. I also like Sleepy Time. I thought Ginger's solo was one in a million. Thanks again. Jean Stanton

Thanks from the bottom of my heart Jack, for the Greatest shows on Earth in London back in May, and also in New York last week. To see you and Ginger and Eric blasting out that power and passion for six out of those seven nights, is a memory I will always carry (I missed Tuesday RAH).

Jack you are a star - you are made of music - I know you wanted to carry on playing last Wednesday, even as Eric and Ginger headed for a well-earned glass of beer after the last notes of "Sunshine" faded from the Garden. It was pouring out of you like a veritable Niagara Falls, and I for one could have just listened to you playing bass, or singing, or picking up the harmonica again - even if it had just been you alone on stage - all night long!

I know there are no more plans for future Cream gigs at present - or indeed if at all; and you three guys do deserve a rest after the torrent of sounds you created this year. However, please get Eric and Ginger into a studio soon and cut some new (dare I say it?) "Fresh" Cream material. We all know it would be brilliant. You don't have to prove it to us ... we just know as an act of faith. But it would be magnificent nonetheless.

Based on the excellent music you made with Ginger in BBM on "Around The Next Dream" (and also on "A Question Of Time"), as well as the great collaborations with Eric on "Somethin Els" and "Shadows In The Air"; all rounded off by this years reunion gigs ... we know there is so much more to come from you three guys ... together!

Please, pleae, please Jack, create some new studio Cream material - it would be wonderful. Then finish the trilogy of latin-tinged albums with The Chicoland Express which have also been such a delight.

ps - what ashame about the www.cream2005.com mesageboards sudden demise ... 1500 hardbitten Cream fans with almost nowhere to go! Except here of course ...

Now, I hop that you all have enough foresight to make Hi Def records or your New York and any further performances for the many who cannot travel to New York. I would buy every one. I would try to go to San Francisco if that were an upcoming venue, but understand that the artists temperment may prohibit too long a time together again. Anyway, wonderful to have the others back. I never stopped listening to your material over the years and it has truly enriched my life.

Clearly a new level was reached. The power/excitement of Jack's voice and bass, the phenomanal drumming by Ginger, and Eric's on the money singing and spectacular guitar. Thank you to the Cream, and all involved, for these truly historic shows.

I just purchased the new DVD of your recent Albert Hall concerts, and it's great. I have longed to see a Cream reunion, and you guys seem to be in great shape. What I noticed, however, is that the music sounded so...empty(uncompressed?). I hate it when the bands reunite and they don't sound anything like they used to. I'm a bassist, and one of the things that made your band exciting live was the growl of your bass tone(EB3 with the capacitor, if I remember right), not very bassy, but it cut through and cooked! I can barely hear the notes you're playing, anymore, and you're still too great a musician not to be heard. Hey, you can still get a cooking sound by just playing with your graphics a bit, at least the treble and presence controls(Chris Squire was good at this). My only other concern was that Eric sounds a bit too fuzzy on his leads, but hey, who am I to complain? Look, just because others can play well, doesn't mean you can't, and you and Ginger are not just backup for Eric, but the free-spirited backbone of this band, and my advice is for you to growl and snarl and fuss and fume until you can't no more. Don't go gentle......

Best wishes-- Jeff

It was truly great to hear Ginger again, and I've got lots of Eric's stuff over the years (I'm a 56-year-old bass player), but your bass sound was so resonant and just spot-on. Great stuff. I loved your haunting song 'We`re Going Wrong` on the recent BBC4 showing of the Cream concerts from the Royal Albert Hall. I wondered after why you didn`t play more of your own songs composed with Pete Brown such as : 'I Feel Free', 'Born Under a Bad Sign' and 'SWALBR'.

It was great to see you live in concert a few years ago at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and I was heartened that the good doctors of the local Cambridge hospital, Adenbrooke`s , did such a great job with your liver transplant back in 2003. I hear you live in Suffolk which is very close to where I live.

Take care and regards to your wife.

Dear Mr. Bruce,

I flew to NY from my home in Ventura, California to attend the 24 October 2005 Cream2005 MSG Concert as a reunion with my high school band-mates of Bronx NY Science HS, class of '72 and '73! Although The Cream had broken up just as we had started High School, we revered every note played on those now-classic albums. We learned how to play our instruments by emulating Cream's work. I have played bass since 1969, largely influenced by your work during and after Cream. It was the experience of a lifetime to be able to see The Cream Alive and Well for the first time, sounding better than ever, after all these years! Thank you all for sharing the gift of your music with us! I hope that we will be able to see The Cream perform new music in the future as well.

Best Regards,

John Rotondi Ventura, CA

I surely hope that these concerts are not the end of Cream and that you guys will PLEASE consider getting into the studio to record some new material.

Best wishes - and remind Eric that you guys are indeed "in your prime" now!

Nice site. Been a fan for many years. I heard a track where you played spoonful with Leslie West and cannot find it on any album. At the beginning you explain to the audience that the last time you almost played this place it burned down. The voice in the background sound like Leslie and says "Was it Arson." Is this on a released recording?

Jack, my husband and I are 50ish old hippies. Bought the reunion DVD and were blown away by it and especially you. Although we have followed you as back up with other jazz artists we were completely unaware of your enormous body of work as a solo artist. We have been snapping up all of your CD's and are kicking ourselves in the ass for not getting them sooner. You are blowing our minds. Great job on the reunion tour. The show with Ginger (Toad's Place) was until last month the best I had ever seen. That show at MSG has definately spoiled me now. Thanks for all the fantastic music.

What can I say that hasn't already been said, except thanks to you and everyone involved with getting this to finally happen. I was so disappointed when I couldn't get tickets to the Royal Albert Hall show and since I grew up in Richmond Va and you guys never played there in the sixties. The concert was everything I hoped it would be. My only regret was that my best friend from high school, Jim Rose was not there to see the concert with me. He was such a Cream Fan and being from the west coast saw your Good By Cream Concert tour. The guys used to call us the Furry Freak Brothers, down at the Kiwi Pool Hall. Good times, good memories, good music and good friends. Still rocking after all these years. Thanks Again, Mike Rich

Hello Jack, I hope you read this. I am age 52 and been No 1 fan of Cream since age 15. I 1st puchase Fresh Cream on 24/6/1969 when I was 15 yrs old. I purchase all the Cream LP since then and have a Video in 1991 when a question was ask to Ginger "Will Cream stand the test of time" and Ginger said I think and It will stand the test of time. It has and it will always stand the test of time. I have the DVD& CD of 2005 Royal Albert Hall and the music was excellent-as if you were only on holidays for 6 weeks not 37 years as Ginger said "we have been waiting so long" I hope your health is ok Jack after liver transplant and tell Ginger to stop smoking (too late!!).I am over the moon(no roper ladder to moon) to see all 3 back to play true music. For Eric to say that Jack make him work/push playing your Guitar is saying something of Jacks playing ability which I know is excellent and so is your playing Eric. Congratulations of true effect to Jack,Ginger & Eric. Come to Australia for next concert -Regards Phil at disraeli@ozemail.com.au- PS I hope I am going that well when I get to your ages- Thanks for the great music

Dear Jack, Having recieved the December 2005 issue of Bass Player, I am compelled to write. I was saddened to hear of your son's demise some years ago. I recall when you were in Atlanta many years ago, that you suffered from pnumonia, while you were here. In the current issue of BP, you mentioned that you had sufered from cancer and a liver transplant. I hope and pray for your complete remission and cure. I began playing bass at the age of 14, in 1968. Of course, "Sir Paul" was an inspiration, but hearing your magnificent work with Cream opened me to more possibilities with bass, and tone. I have always admired your melodic lead bass approach ,as well as your ability to sing and play simultaneously. I have only seen you live , once, with WEST, BRUCE and LANG. I still recall that performance with joy; you played with such passion. I was also a great fan of Felix Pappalardi, as well. I met him briefly after a Mountain concert, in Atlanta. He was very kind to take time to speak with a young, aspiring bassist. Overall, it seems as though I have leared most of my playing from bassists named "Jack"; Jaco, Jack Cassidy..and , of course , Jack Bruce. Thank you, for your body of work, your compositions and your bass playing . I have always especially loved, "Theme for an Imaginary Western", whether sung by you, or Pappalardi. Again, thank you for all you've done, stay well. Sincerely, Joel.

I doubt if you remember me I spoke with you years back when you did a project with friends of mine Bruce Cameron Andy, Michael bruce, and Neil Smith of Alice Cooper. I told you then how much more deserving you where of acknowledgement as a musician because you are a legand among legands. I know that you had alot of disappointing years where you may have felt forgotten but as I told you then I now can say it again and I always knew it true you were never forgotten and by your guestbook now booming with fans writing that is evident. I must say I was shocked to hear about your reunion with Cream of course happy as everyone else and we all have to do what we have to do in this world. I do wonder if Clapton would have been up for this if he was still pumping out hits. LOL either way I am very very happy to see you where you belong in the spotlight once more. I will probably not be lucky enough to you ever again now that you are again in the spotlight but my prayers and my love will always be thete for you and your success if inevitable. Your a star among many that never lost its shine. Congratulations on your award as well. I am right now watching your tv cream reumiion concert and its a shame that Eric couldnt give this to the fans a long time ago. Keep shining Jack you do know that is what Bruce Cameron wanted for you and all the others he had on his album he wanted you to be where you should be as the great musician you are. BTW ny good friend Richie scarlet now plays with Leslie west and corky Laing. Its an honor to be among such great musicians for him I am sure.

Phenominal! PBS played the 2005 Albert Hall concert last night and I was blown away by the tightness of the group after all these years. To be honest, I expected a decent replay of old classics, but did not expect the oneness with which the trio performed. I don't recall seeing much live footage of the band in the '70's so I was unaware that Jack did the bulk of the vocals. Mr. Bruce, if you read this, thank you for giving me an evening of pure enjoyment and a few moments of retrospect with some of my favourite music.

Hi! oh my gosh this is so cool to know that Jack Bruce actually writes to us on this site, I'm so excited! I'm a HUGE fan of Jack Bruce. He's soooooooooo cool! What I wanted to mainly bring up is I recently bought the Cream Farwell concert 1968 version and$ there's a section where Jack talks about the pitfalls of a strict classical education. As a classically trained vacalist I have found it incredibly difficult to 'unlearn' what I have been taugh. I've had to go right back to basics and pretty much sit in my room and beltch out the notes and re-work them. It's a difficult ride but a worthy one becasue thanks to the aid of some fantastic grass roots blues singers and taking note of Jack Bruces style I've been able to learn so much more! if Jack ever reads this, I hope he has a smile and just knows what an impact he is still having on people. Not only as a bass player but as a vocalist too. I'm only 23 after all and I 'really' admire a voice likes Jacks who has o much strength and depth. Good on ya mate and when are you gonna come to New Zealand?

Dear Jack My wife and I watched the reunion gig at the Albert Hall on TV and were blown away. I have been Cream fan all these years, it was an absolute delite to see you and the boys showing the world how it is supposed to be done. The energy, class and sheer guts whith which the band played is something only Cream has the credibility to do. I still find it difficult to comprehend how just the three of you can produce such an incredible amount of sound. No other three piece band has ever come close. Cream has inspired and influenced millions of people around the world, don't stop now. I hope you play together more often, it has been the longest drought in music history. I loved the way you and Ginger made Eric work, he hasn't played like that since 1969 (except for the George Harrison tribute). I think I can speak for the whole world in asking Cream to play more frequently. At least once a year. The very best of health to all of you and thank you for the great music. Dear Jack Bruce,

Just saw the Cream reunion concert footage broadcast on PBS. Wonderful! Your vocal ideas are better than ever - really inspiring musicianship.

Back in 1965, a friend came back to our Seattle home town after seeing Graham Bond at the Richmond (?) Jazz Fest. He raved about the band, and especially about one Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker. He brought back a copy of Sounds of 65.

So, by the time Fresh Gream came out in the States, I was primed. Loved the LP, and when Cream toured in '68 I hustled down to Eagles Auditorium in Seattle to catch one of your two shows. I sat a few yards away, and treasure the memory of the performance.

Last night's video brought a lot of it back along with renewed appreciation.

Well done! And thank you for the amazing music you've created over the years.

Wow I just finally saw the Cream reunion concert on our local PBS station. Great! But I agree with what Jack said at one point: something like "this is our prime". Ginger, Eric, and Jack all showed something that was missing back in the day. Maturity? Not sure what word to use but hope ya know what I mean.

Makes me wish the three of them would stay together to see how this experience and maturity would come out in their songwriting.

Probably won't happen, but I personally think Bruce and Baker are just the guys to kick Clapton in his arse and get him moving again!

Jack, Cream gave birth to the power-trio. You laid the foundation for a revolutionary change in the role the bass player would assume in rock music. You are an icon, a founding father, and a master of your art. You have inspired many notables, and non-notables, such as myself, who have succumbed to a life-long love affair with the electric bass. For this, I thank you.

Thank You So Much, Jack, for being there and making things worthwhile musically. And while I guess there was realistically never any hope for me, I wouldn't let you down. Your music has gotten me through many long nights, and blisters to the bone.

Sincerely and warmly, Paul Johnson

Like so many others, the first song I learned to play was 'Sunshine of your Love'. It was 1968 and I was 12 years old. I went on to learn other Cream songs such as White Room, Crossroads (Cream style)and many others. My buddy plays with ARS and we jam to Cream songs all the time. Jack, thanks for the memories, the inspiration and the music. I play Bass guitar today and you had a large part in the reason. Thanks! Keep up the excellent work. aceofbass

Dear Jack, I wanted to express my admiration and joy from watching the Cream Reunion concert on PBS this week. You, Ginger and Eric sounded wonderful, your voice and bass playing as excellent as they were 37 years ago. Thanks for providing the DVD's of your show for cable broadcast (and purchase) so those who couldn't attend in person would still be able to enjoy the highlights. I have been a fan of yours since "Fresh Cream" was released in the 60's, and was not sure what to expect from the reunion concert, but you all picked up at Royal Albert Hall last May as if you had been playing together since 1969. I especially enjoyed hearing "Rollin and Tumblin" and "We're Going Wrong," two of my all-time favorites that feature your voice and 'harp. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!

OK!! How's this for a laugh! (for me though.......a cry) I wait practically all of my adult life to see Cream, I buy airfare tickets, bought a good seat at he last show at the Garden, I'm all "jacked" and ready to see Cream suddenly my world falls apart! The mother of my fiance surprises us with Fiddler on the Roof fucking tickets the night of my concert!! To make a long story very short, I sat in box seats in a Broadway theatre watching Fiddler on the fucking Roof while some stranger has his seat upgraded at my expense!! Can you fucking believe this?? Unfortunately I can............hey Jack, can you guys do one more Garden show?? Be well!! your BIG fan HK

that said, i think your As You Said has the problem of being an unknown but being possibly the greatest of cream. i heard it on a classical station once and immedietly ran out to get it on Wheels of Fire. you know it's one of your greatest works- so please play it at your next concert! play a joke on the audience by saying its a NEW cream sonG! and is there a greatest of jack bruce post cream album? please keep playing. so much 'pop'music these days is trash. if you guys kept it up you could inflence the scene. can i get a job in any future gigs?? love ya, seeya, bob

Jack, Congratulations on the success of your recent Cream revival concerts. I had the good fortune of catching the final show at M.S. Garden. Musically, it was epic but I found myself somewhat sad when I realized just how much time has past since I first heard Fresh Cream and instantly became a big fan. As a semi-professional drummer since 1964, I feel extremely fortunate to have spent the prime of my life witnessing and participating in the performance of what may be the best music of the 20th century. I can't over-emphasize the importance of what you, Ginger and Eric have given (and, God willing, will continue to bring) to the field of legitimate popular music. There's a saying "Music is a gift from God. What you do with it is your gift back to Him. Thank you so much for giving the best. You are much loved for it. God bless you. Sincerely, Rich Holodak P.S. If you ever want to jam with new musicians in a totally non- threatening, comfortable environment, please consider this 54 year old drummer. It's my goal to play with some of the world's finest musicians before I depart this world and if I'm going to do it, why not try to do it with best?

Hello, Jack. I'm one of the '60s survivors, and in those days, there was an incredible outpouring of musical talent to those who were "searching" for the Truth. You guys (Cream) were one of the best, and carried with you great promise. The same is true today. You, Ginger, and Eric are very powerful ambassodors to the children of the sixties, and their children. I must tell you that I believe that your voices have been spared for the great messages that you will radiate concerning the Truth for a very troubled world. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endeavors you gave for the Tribute at Albert Hall 05. Great things are coming your way. Sincerely, Doug

I purchased the Albert Hall Reunion CD when it first came out. It was great! I purchased the Albert Hall DVD and it was even better! For many, many years I beleived that the live version of 'Crossroads' on the 'Wheels of Fire' album was one of Cream's greatest performances, or - for that matter - the BEST LIVE recording of any song that I ever heard. But, the rendition of 'We're Going Wrong' on the Albert Hall DVD is incredible. Even after almost forty years it still sounds fresh. And, it is now one of my al time favorites. Cream broke up just as I was getting to know them, it is great to see you guys back together, again. And ... the music is GREAT. It sure looks like you were enjoying yourself during the concerts. Carry ON! One Fan in Delaware, Peyton

Jack, The Cream Reunion tour @ RAH brings tears to my eyes. I'm 50 years old and have seen many concerts in my life but none compare to this one. Words can not express how I feel when watching the concert or listening to the CD's. It is by far the purest music I've heard in years!

It was a pleasure to watch the comradarie between you, Ginger and Eric on stage. All of you seemed to really enjoy playing together. Your voice is so great!

I happended upon the Cream Reunion tour when it aired on PBS a couple of weeks ago. I am still heart broken over having missed the three of you at MSG!

Please do what you can to get back together as soon as possible and play a couple of more dates in the USA. I'll travel to wherever I have to in order to see the show. I pray there are millions of fans asking Cream to do the same thing.

Thanks for taking time to read my message. I thought music such as this was gone forever. The music from the Cream Reunion tour is my saving grace and I cherish the DVD's and CD's that allow me to watch and listen whenever I want to.

Kindest regards,

Rick

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, December 11 2005--

Hi again, Jack Bruce! It is really extraordinary that I, as millions of brazilian admirers of your astounding bass style and singing, can finally look at Jack's fingers running the bass's neck and seeing that he, at that determined moment, hit a G string instead of a D! Great stuff, Jack, because, prior to the Royal Albert Hall's highest standard ranks, we could never see that; we just listened to a record or CD of Cream live, but just said, "we can't see Jack playing and soloing"...

Now we CAN. Very important. Jack, brazilians need to see bass solos, and a busy bass player competing in equal terms onstage with fiery guitarists is visually a shock, a, believe me, highly stimulating feel. That's the importance, the technical importance, of the DVD. Nothwithstanding, though, West, Bruce & Laing and other tours of Jack with Larry Corryell and McLaughlin are not available in DVD. It is terrible! Jack's solos at the Madison Square Garden and Albert Hall were fabulous, but, oh listen to me please, his distorted, feedback solo of POWERHOUSE SOD is not available in DVD. I even e-mailed to the MOUNTAIN website, questioning this. We all hope that, in 2006, the soonest they can put it on the record market, we can finally buy - also - West,Bruce & Laing live DVDs as the other ones with Jack commanding. Because he is always at the top.

Congratulations from Carlos Bill, the brazilian bass player, the natural divulgator of Jack Bruce's music.

Gosh, Jack, you make bass playing • impossible to ignore • fascinating to watch • exciting to listen to You’re the best at what you do both vocally and instrumentally! And with Eric and Ginger, the result is enormously spectacular and intoxicating.

The RAH Cream Reunion DVD has created a major time-sink for me (at the expense of “sleepytime” hours). I’ve been watching almost daily, initially foolishly thinking I might skip through parts for brevity. But it’s ALL vital and mesmerizing.

The Paisley Days for me were high school years with only an occasional aspirin and no R&R concerts until after Cream retired. I knew only some of the Cream catalogue and have only seen you perform in the spring 1997 All-Starrs (Denver Fiddler’s when Ginger lived nearby and temporarily increased the 1/3 cup of Cream to 2/3 cup for a song or two).

I’ve now collected the entire Cream audio catalogue (studio and live) and am perusing old performance footage online and through other media. I like what you’re doing NOW best of all I've seen or heard, and I’ll likely be exploring more of your post-Cream work in due time. Stay healthy, you look almost too frail!

Rio de Janeiro, December 14 2005--

Jack Bruce's bass style, like no other electric bass player in the same context, can like nobody play in an emotional cathartic way that allow to remain inatcts the classic canons of his torrential tones and phrasings.

The recent, unmatchable Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden's Concerts, as his appearance with Ron Carter, show him in rare inspired form. His classic, legendary out-of-phase tone while with West, Bruce & Laing had his bass distorted, crying as a classic Delta blues shouter in early 30s or 40s in intensity, raw power, organic urgency - PLAY WITH FIRE and THE DOCTOR have him putting notes like "right into the drawer", remembring, in attitude, Stanley Clarke in the funky tunes of his Stanley Clarke album which had him on the cover, black power hair and Alembic bass...

Bruce's and Cream's recent shows in DVD should reunite other oldies of Cream's classics. Winterland, Saville Theatre, Fillmores West, East...CDs are extraordinary but...they don't allow people to SEE THAT JACK IS HITTING A G STRING, you know...like Jimi Hendrix at the Fillmore East, which had his guitar in uncommon, uncanny out-of-tune tone and wild runs and fingerings, Jack Bruce's Cream whole career and with W,B&L and in his jazzy instrumentals followed by incredibly unaltered moods and intonations also shows him in equally dynamic motions, sometimes unexpected ones. Please Jack's manager and producers, try to, in 2006, release rare Cream, WB&L and other golden appearances of Jack onstage. Congratulations as ever, Carlos Bill.

Rio de Janeiro, December 17 2005--

Hi! Considering the magnificency of the releases of the DVD and CD of the Royal Albert Hall concerts, and the fire coming out from the players of Cream, it couldn't be more obvious and vital to tell Jack Bruce and management, including A&R staff, that also the releases of Cream's oldies is equally vital.

We all know that the Winterland, Saville Theatre, Café Au Go Go and Fillmores West and East are by far and without a doubt Cream's probably more energetic performances. As kids, we guys and women who are aged around 44-48 (I'm 44) now used to buy WHEELS OF FIRE and marvel with the speeded up fingerings and unexpectedly blues/based upper register bended notes of Jack in CROSSROADS. Eric's famous "second solo licks" and Ginger Baker's snare drum's insistence more than compensated the strange uptempoed arrangement of that otherwise slow Robert Johnson's almost ballad-like song of early 30s or 40s...I suggest that Jack's staff involved in searching older material, go on and, once finding the footages of this legendary Winterland's show, immediately release it still in 2006! CREAM - THE INCENDIARY WINTERLAND PERFORMANCE would be a stimulating title, and millions of fans worldwide, now still marvelling with the clean, busy bass tones of Jack at the 2005's Albert Hall's show, which seem to occupy and fill all the spaces more than before, would find it a true spectacle to see Jack literally "flying" over the bass's neck in CROSSROADS; it would put the eagerness of fans and musicians alike a little more still, when they could see the CROSSROADS' slower tempo in the 2005's show, comparing it FINALLY with the faster licks of the Winterland spectacle. And SPOONFUL is just another jewel. To see that "Jack was hitting a G string in CROSSROADS" at the Winterland is a deep feeling; for musicians, it is a textbook of his style, as it is in 2005.

To close: the Madison Square Garden's performance should be recorded for DVD release? It is fascinating in seeing the setlist and the nuances with the same songs. Will it be released? Congratulations from Carlos Bill, waves of much health for Jack Bruce and happiness.

In whatever zillion years that internet guestbooks have existed, this is the first time that I ever wished to put my 2 cents in to praise a musician on-line! Jack is that musician. He is such an original, such a creative spirit, and the only bass player who directly influenced and motivated me to play and grow in music. He's the best and I am glad that he is in the world making music that still touches me. I still get ferklempted when I hear those songs off of "Out of the Storm" and "Harmony Row". My one gripe against Jack? The rat traded his Gibson EB3 to the drummer Bruce Gary (a DRUMMER fer Cripe's sake) for a freaking Chapman Stick instead of giving the bass to me. (To quote don Corleone) "And that I don't forgive."

DEAR JACK - I was blessed in 1968 to see CREAM in Des Moines, Iowa. It was a life-altering experience. I also saw you with Mitch Mitchell & Larry Coryell at the Aragon circa 1969, with Billy Cobham & Clem Clempson at Park West, and with Ginger at Biddy Mulligan's in Chicago, and have followed your recorded output religiously. My biggest regret is that I missed West Bruce & Laing live. I have always felt that your work on the 'Why Dontcha' album made every other heavy rock bass player that followed totally irrelevant, even more so than the studio recordings of Cream. 'Songs For A Tailor' in it's entirety is one of the great unsung masterpieces. My wife & I flew to NYC to see Cream at MSQ and if you do any more shows we'll be there. I was hoping to see BBM somewhere but never found an opportunity, although I understand there were some live shows. My primary question today is - Is there any video or DVD anywhere in the world of West Bruce & Laing live? If anyone reads this and can point me to any WBL live video I'd be forever grateful. Thanks Jack for always staying true to yourself and continuing to create an always brilliant catalog of music.

Hi Jack--Thanks for the incredible concert on Oct 24, 2005 at Madison Square Garden in NYC. It was perhaps the coolest experience of my entire life and I will cherish the memory forever. You ROCKED the house and it was worth the drive over the mountain. Love, Mary

I have just received Creams renuion DVD for Christmas, it just re-inforces my desire to have bought a ticket from E-bay, but never mind. What a faboulus performance from Jack, Eric and Ginger. Eric we all know is the best ever guitarist in the world, but Jack, oh I honestly forgot what a performer he is, it was pure magic from start to finish and I can only say the biggest thanks you. It was like being transported back 40 years, but I think they were better in May than before and I thought I would never say that about anybody. It was a pleasue and privilage to be able to listen to such magic. Thanks Jack, and I hope your health is better, because we need 'GREAT' musicians like you.

Dear Jack,

Many have probably said this before, but for me you are my mentor, you are the reason I took up playing bass! I once had a drummer that told me to stop trying to play like you! I struggled through the late 60's and early 70's trying to make it, to no avail, too much, too soon, bad management, egos, wrong place, wrong time! I just want to thank you for being you, Jack, the man, the ultimate bass player. I also want to thank you for all the superb music you have given us, I was a devoted Cream fan from day one. I recall sneaking a peek at a certain scout hall in Willesden back in 1966, unknown to me and my friends at that time we weren’t sure what was on the brew (excuse the pun. But I do recall you even then. Later I experienced a few of the first Cream gigs at Klooks Kleek, The Marquee and The Roundhouse. Much later I managed to secure a press pass to attend both concerts at The Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 1968. I was right in front of the stage armed with a Rollieflex camera and no flash (this was forbidden by the penguins at the RAH). Suffice to say, that the film I had loaded was not fast enough for stage lighting, out of 4 rolls of film, I came home with one reasonable picture of Eric, so much for photography, back to playing bass!

Like many others I tried to get tickets for your reunion concert at RAH, but no luck, (I now live in Denmark) I drowned my sorrows with the excellent DVD set, it bought tears to my eyes, what a blast! Jack, thanks again, your were all superb, it looks like you all enjoyed it too. As you said in reply to Eric Clapton at one point during the gig, "we are in our prime", you proved that. I salute you!

I hope that the future years will bring you good health and happiness. Please continue to give us your fantastic musical talent.

God Bless, take care and THANKS!

Regards, Derek

Dear Jack,

I did not have the privilege of seeing Cream's union concert in person. I did however purchase the DVD - to wit, this is why I am writing in your diary this evening. As one of THE enshrined groups of the 60's, I was resistant to experience any new interpretations fearing that current renditions would be a disappointment to those fluid, youthful memories. However, to my delight, each song sung that evening (or compilation of evenings) surpassed the previous - brilliant innovation, spirit (hope) and a freedom that we could all benefit from now in 2006. No anxiety, no self-worship and/or vanity, no pretense, no regrets - just art. It was wonderful. Thank you.

I didn’t know Jack. At least not very well. He was generally under my radar after Cream. But hey, my radar was primitive, at best. And now he’s all over my screen! I can’t stop watching the DVD – maybe the best concert, chemistry and musicianship I’ve ever seen. When you guys skim some more cream – which I assume you are doing – come around the U.S. on a larger scale, and don’t forget Denver! We’ll be waiting.
