NAME: danny COMMENTSAt the beginning of 2007,I was doing my "family tree".My wife felt kind of left out as she is adopted. So I set out to find her birth parents. You can imagine her surprise when I found that she is a full cousin of Jack Bruce. Isuppose it's just as well that she is a Cream fan. Perhaps one day they will meet . NAME: Paul Fuller COMMENTSCongratulations Jack on receiving your Doctorate. Funny how your old Collage , that kicked you out could be so nice to you now. There is no knowing of the academic mind. You should have passed with Honours years ago. Singing , Bass playing and the cycle of "Fifths" forever. All the Best To You Paul Fuller. NAME: Mladen Savovich COMMENTSDear Jack, thank you for Strange Brew! NAME: Laurie COMMENTSCongratulations, Doctor Bruce! An honor long overdue. As a life long admirer of Cream's music and Jack in particular, I would just like to say thanks for giving me the soundtrack to my life. I still believe that out of the three members of Cream, great as they all are, it was and is Jack Bruce who actually gives Cream their unique sound. As amazing as Ginger and Eric are, it is Jack who's the indespensible ingredient. There are many great Drummers and Guitarists out, but only one Jack Bruce. NAME: Batook COMMENTSYo Jack, u r the greatest. Just heard More Jack than god wow absolute awesome. Saw u during your Cream days. When r u coming to Cardiff, it ain't a bad city - had that shit Rod Stewart y'day, yuck; who wants to c him? If u do come to Cardiff, it would be a sell out so get your skates on and pay us your Celts friends a visit please! NAME: dave COMMENTScurious, as for me i would never accept a Doctorate from an institution that i've been critical of for the past 45 years!! i guess integrity only goes so far. anyway, here's to THE DOCTORRRRRRR!!!!!!!! NAME: Jenny Melville COMMENTSCan you help? In the late 60's (I was 11) I remember listening to an album that I believe involved Jack. The cover depicted the open rear doors of a van with musicians etc in view. There was a particular track featuring a zitar which has haunted me ever since. Can anyone identify the album? Many thanks. NAME: paolo COMMENTSThank you Jack. For your friends, your bands, your blues, your voice! NAME: Janie COMMENTSSometimes I say SO much, yet say SO little (see previous messages). Jack Bruce,in all honesty,I'd love to meet you and talk to you about EVERYTHING! Music has always been an emotional experience for me,but I had NO IDEA that any music could SO deeply touch my heart and SO effortlessly talk to my soul,as your music has. Wish I could thank you face-to-face for, musically, laying your heart on your sleeve.....(when i saw & heard you sing,"Song for an Imaginary Western" at the piano by urself, and, "Weird of Hermiston" by that beautiful waterfall, i swear i fell in love.....) And now back to my normal cheeky self - Jack, what CANT you do?....last week i was introduced to WB&L- YOU friggin' R.O.C.K. big-time! a big fat raspberry to the Stones (wink) cos ur "Play with Fire" kicks their butt. And then "Powerhouse Sod" ..thatz one red-hot bass solo,Mister(& ur vocals aint so shabby either)...YOU GO BOY! Cheerio - look after yerself JANIE XX P.S. Congratulations on the Doctorate . You derserve the qualification and the recognition. NAME: Jim COMMENTSHi Jack and Fans and all..... I hope you all are having a wonderful summer and in the betweens of life, love and liberty....... May you all have a beautiful day.....peace and now....Jack....when r we going to see ya' in the NYC area NAME: Duart COMMENTSJust listened to I'm So Glad, again, 40 years on, and wondered about Jack. The great vocal, the great bass, the definition of Cream. It never gets old... NAME: LENA COMMENTSIT S VERY HARD LIVE WITHOUT YOU NEW MUSIC NEW ALBUM. I LOVE YOU VERY - VERY MUCH. LENA. MOSCOW. I M 22. NAME: Grant Scale COMMENTSHello Jack, I hope everything is going well for you. If you are doing something with Cream later this year, we can only hope that it is in Australia. It is a great place for a working holiday. The sales for The Police in January, at big venues, have gone ballistic over here. While you are playing, we all live in hope and the world is a better place Jack. NAME: Phil Bilzor COMMENTSI recently read in amazement the hurdles thrown in front of the creation of the classic masterpiece "White Room". To think that one of music's greatest works was held up for lack of studio availability or the opinions of a know-nothing so-called producer demonstrates how much of the world's greatest genius can be lost due to lack of resources. I humbly thank Jack for his dedication, hard work, and immeasurable contributions to the art of music. NAME: Jaime Esqueda COMMENTSWhen come to Mexico? NAME: jeff COMMENTShey jack im 19 and have been palying bass for three years.when i first started i wanted to find the best bass player to learn from.i listined to a lot of songs then i here this song called politician i thought wow this is a great song so i got as many cream cds as i could get then i found songs for a taylor,i was hooked so i orderd much of your solo music and things like west, bruce, and laing and bbm.I have learned a lot from these cds and your dvd the cream of cream.i wrote a 12 song cd it will be called glass forest the title is taken from the song folk song and there is a song called glass forest i dedicate to jack on the cd that is me on fretless warwick corvette bass and my brother doing some drum work,it sounds similer to jacks venaa bass work.thanks for teaching me hope you go on tour soon stop by sacramento ca, if your there im there! peace and love jeff NAME: JOHN DOCKNEY COMMENTSJust chillin listening to live Spoonful for about the millionth time. Thanks for recording this track Jack your passion is infectious. To all you blues fans throughout the world look out for a young South African blues guitarist call DAN PATLANSKY-unbelievable.Would love to see him play with Jack. Quando ascolto Sitting on the top of the world ancora oggi rabbrividisco. Sei un grande. Non so se leggerai queste mie parole. Spero di si e di ricevere una tua risposta almeno un saluto Ciao Mimmo NAME: pLee COMMENTSAll pray for the health of Joe Zawinul. NAME: Mike Emiliani COMMENTSHey, Jack! Tremendous fan of yours, and all the work you've done over the years from Blues Incorporated and Graham Bond, through Cream, to the solo works. Your bass playing been the driving force to have myself take up bass, and has had an enormous influence on my style. I would just like to thank you for all your work from the bottom of my heart! So thanks so much, Jack! NAME: Rob Lingelbach COMMENTSEver since I was a teenager, playing bass, Jack's artistry has been an immesurable influence on my musical life. There is perhaps only one other composer-musician with such influence, and Mr. Bruce would appreciate, that it is J.S. Bach. Hallowed ground indeed. --Rob Lingelbach NAME: Ali Donald COMMENTSLike Jack, I am from Bishopbriggs. When my school friends were listening to the Beatles I had outgrown them and was listening avidly to Cream. Now 51, I still listen to Cream and anything bass led! I went back to Bishopbriggs last year, the first time in 30 years. Not a lot has changed, and still a lot of locals don't know who Jack Bruce is. Unbelievable. To my home towns most celebrated son, I thank you for giving me a great early musical education that is with me to this day. Maybe see you in The Crow for a bevvy wan day pal. JANIE XXXXXX NAME: Danny COMMENTSJust been listening to Cozy Powell's "Over the top" cd - Jack is amazing through out the album - his inter-play with Don Airey is superb. There's one track called "Heidi goes to town" that I've been trying to work out the tab - I've no problem with Don's melody - it's with Jack's line I can't get it - because he's playing above the keyboard melody. Can anybody help me with the bass tab to this song? NAME: IGBO ONE COMMENTSi love this site please kereep on the good work. Loved the bit where Kip is 2 come on & say somethin' nice 4 ur Birthday, BUT, comes on and says "EFF" that for a joke, and "EFF" YOU JACK, for being so "EFFIN" brilliant and making music that touches us all so deep. I whole-heartedly agree with Kip. oh yeah, then at one point UR playing UR cello doin' things to Bach that i aint never heard before, and at the end you said, "SHIT, SORRY BACH!" well, I burst out laughin 'cos, and im NOT shittin'here, that is EXACTLY what i say out loud when i feel ive just bungled up some BACH.Weird... There was some JAZZ- GINGER , DICK & JACK doin the jazz THANG...all nuts bout music, all havin' a bloody ball, all showing that they KNOW their arse from their elbow when it comes to JAZZ. Smiles and Grins AND Never tell your mother she's out of tune are stunning bits of music. My favourite was Theme for an Imaginary Western - Jack , you had me glued to the screen ....captivating , beautiful performance - i could listen to that singing forever ..... To all the Jack fans - get this show ...its like a Jack musicalography To JACK- YOUR music sweet music , captures my soul Janie xxxx NAME: James COMMENTSWas "Songs For A Tailor" referring to Jeannie Franklin? She was the then girlfriend of Richard Thompson and she was killed in Fairport Convention's van crash in 1969. Thank you NAME: Carlos Bill COMMENTSDear Jack Bruce. Your older and most recent achievements - Blues & Beyond Festival, Scottish Academy, and even older, as West, Bruce & Laing and your stints with Larry Coryell and John McLaughlin -should be released in dvd. Even Bobby Darin's old shows were edited in dvd, and in colour. What an interesting news it could be. Thanks for your music, Carlos Bill. NAME: Gerd Schnittcher COMMENTSThe Royal Albert Hall 2005 Concert is the best rock concert and you are the best bass guitar player I have ever heard. Congratulations!!! Greetings from Germany Gerd (58) NAME: pLee COMMENTSHeaven above, receive Joe Zawinul into your heart. (sorry for the spelling) NAME: deryl COMMENTSive loved cream since i was about 16,im 53 and i still love cream, ive got everything youve ever done with cream, your bass and singing were the core of cream,i admire the fact that you played bass and sang as well as wrote much of the music, you are a all around great musician...thanks for all the great songs...deryl NAME: JEFFERY Douglas COMMENTSThe business of watching England navigating their way through this most prestigious of international tournaments is a fraught, tiring and emotional business. Victory must be expected - or there doesn't seem too much point in watching - but defeat should also be anticipated. There are so many variables to consider and so many challenges to contemplate, that the whole business is best served by months of careful advanced preparation. NAME: Jim Hampton COMMENTSA continued thanks for all the great music you have made for me over the years. Peace and Love. Stop by if you get to the northwest gulf coast of Florida. NAME: Janie COMMENTSI'm listenin to "Out in the Fields" and I just had to tell you that YOU ARE A BUGGER 'cos you have actually moved me to tears....yeah,seriously! Must be "aff ma bliddy heed" (as my Gran would have put it!!)..it is powerful and passionate - you must be one helluvah man (your wife better thank her stars that you are hers(wink)). I thought the passion i feel for your music would eventually wear off...but NOOOOOO -im just gettin' more into it! Im normally a lassie with her feet planted firmly on the ground...but hell,Jack - your music's touched me so deeply. THANK YOU, MY FAVOURITE MUSICIAN. Hope you are strong and well and happy. Janie xxxx NAME: Carlos Bill COMMENTSWell...let me start with exciting passages. I recently looked at pics of Jack Bruce with Larry Coryell, Mitch Mitchell and Mike Mandel, as well as Jack's appearance at the Crystal Palace; I saw Jack, Larry Young, Tony Williams, John McLaughlin and Lifetime together. And I wish Jack's producers could release dvds of these oldies, live ones, as well as of West, Bruce & Laing and Cuicoland Express. Countless veterans artists of US and England have had their dvds released, even so many years after their deaths, so...Let's Jack's phenomenal music be widely known! Carlos Bill, bass player and songwriter. NAME: Joe Shemke COMMENTSJack--just want to say thanks for many years of listening pleasure. A picture of you from the cover of Guitar Player, or some rag like that, hangs in my office. I'm also grateful you survived the liver transplant. I heard you interviewed not long ago, and it seems to have given you a new sense of life, so-to-speak. That's excellent. Didn't know about the doctorate thing until I started reading some of your emails. Congratulations. Keep jammin' and bringing us all that good music. Again, thanks for a lifetime of music entertainment. Take care, J.S. NAME: John Prime COMMENTSThanks for being such a great inspiration for my own bass playing.
