Dear Jack Bruce, I am a Bassplayer for 34 years now. And I have a question: on one of my basses I use La Bella Flatwound Strings to play Motown Stuff - James Jamerson, and they sound great for old motown basslines, but by the way I practised Badge and I played it on this bass using the flatwounds. And it did not sound bad. My question: did you use flatwound strings during the recording, remember because of that long slides you played.... Hope to hear from you soon - visit my website myspace.com stevekbassplayer... All the best Stephen

Hello Jack, I am 58 and was a fan of Cream. Lately I became a dvd of Cream and I was astonished about what was happening. I didn't realize it was so reniewing and free. Now my youngest son Vincent (21)plays the bass in a rockband!!. He also studies autonome painter at art academy. He had a livertransplantation when he was 9 years old. Sometimes the puzzle fells into one. His band is called Skip Intro. A very new name in a new century. Please look on you tube or listen to their first EP Face it! I wish you all the best really. Have a nice time and keep on rocking and playing. You are a gifted human and that is always a miracle. Everyone who finds his destination is a miracle. I know it... Be blessed.. jan

I love the 'Seven Moons' album and really look forward to the current liaison with Robin Trower on stage continuing into some British dates too please. Having said that, and considering all the great guitarists Jack has worked with over the years - I really can't understand why he's never done a proper project with Jeff Beck. These two musicians, with their open minded musical philosophies, common early 60s London R&B beginnings, and similar jazz backgrounds were made for each other IMHO anyway. Also looking forward to the third in the latin-tinged trilogy to follow SITA and MJTG.

It's an honour to sign your guestbook here. Been a fan of yours since the Cream days, I think you are one of the greatest bass players and vocalists ever, for sure among those playing the blues. I read your diary and about the friends you've lost over the years. I saw Dick Heckstall-Smith at some blues festival in Frankfurt in the 1970s, with Pete York on the drums (can't remember what he deal was), there was never a saxophone player like him! Well, God bless you friend (don't know whether you believe in Jesus or not), keep going! Your aficionado, Ronald

Hello Jack and happy belated new year! I want to let you know that we just had our first gig of the new year and that we've been together as unofficial ambassadors performing the music of CREAM wheelsofire.com for 4 years now and we're more appreciative and excited than ever! Your fans always love your timeless music and we're thankful that they love and appreciate the way we perform it! It's always a rush and an out of body experience vocalizing with your style especially when performing White Room, Tales.., SWLABR, and Sleepy Time. Your talent goes much farther than the sum of CREAM, and you are truly the well-spring from which we flow, myself, Michael (guitar) and Conrad (Bass). Our jams have never been more psychedelically inspired (without the psychedelics of course ;-) and energetic. Please Please Please, The next time you visit the States, we would be honored to be your band (I know you've heard that a billion times). Health, happiness and peace to you and yours in 2009. I pledge my eternal gratefulness. Sincerest and warmest regards to you Jack Bruce! Peace, Peter

I was living in New Delhi, India in the late 60's when 'Sunshine of Your Love' came out. I was inpsired by Cream to become a lead rock guitarist. To this day I practice daily, totally addicted to playing rock music. Having to work full time and then in the evenings I never had to time to get married. Ironically, the preoccupation with the guitar has keep me out of trouble all these years by keeping me off the streets. Anyway, I was wondering if you have some high energy recordings with you playing blues harmonica. (Rollin' and Tumblin style). I find your harmonica solos are one of the most incredible sounds to bless the ears of mankind. You would probably find a significant resurgence in media interest if you would focus on some more blues harmonica sounds in the near future. (with you playing bass of course) (: Christopher Remington

I've been a fan for most of my life. Just bought the reissue of W,B&Ls'"Whatever Turns You on". I'm somewhat disappointed. I was hoping for a clear version of the LP I bought back in "73. What happened? I didn't expect a remixed version. Vocals and licks are not where they were. Anyway, I remain a loyal listener and drive to your "Into the Storm" album frequently. You will always be a favorite composer and musician of mine. Thanks for listening.

I READ SOMEWHERE THAT LESLIE WEAST AND CORKY LAING HAVE BEEN INSISTENTLY INVITING JACK BRUCE TO REJOIN THEM IN A NEW WB&L REUNION. WELL, THE 'NEW', SOFTER TONE OF THE WARWICK BASS, PLUS THE FACT THAT JACK IS PLAYING WITH AN OLD FIRE, WOULD RESULT IN FASCINATING NEW PLAYINGS OF POWERHOUSE SOD OR THE DOCTOR. IN THE MEANTIME, JACK WOULD PLAY AGAIN, LIVE, FASCINATING OLDIES, LIKE SPIRIT, BIRD ALONE, INTO THE STORM OR TIMESLIP. BUT HE WITH ROBIN TROWER AND GARY HUSBAND IS THE FOCAL POINT OF THE MOMENT. Like what Buzz said above, I have tix for Jack at Sellersville and would very much like to know who will be in his band for that show and what kind of musical meal we can expect to feast on. I am hoping for rock or blues over jazz but I'll take anything (if jazz then I'll be taking a nap during the show). I heard from a friend that the band will have Vernon Reid on guitar and Bernie Worrell on keyboards (2 major musical heavyweights there) but I have been unable to substantiate this anywhere and have no idea how he heard this (he says a friend told him who heard it from "the internet"). Any clues anyone???? Also, I know Jack is going to love this place (I don't know anyone who plays there that doesn't), and I hope after the gig he tells his buddy Robin Trower how great it is, so that Robin can try to get word to his booking agent to get HIM in there on his tour later this year....

Have always been a huge Bruce fan. Cream is (still!) my favorite band. I especially like the "Coffee Song", and "Wrapping Paper". There has never been another band like Cream. I'm now reading Dave Thompson's excellent book on the group (unfortunate subtitle). I am stunned that this collection of giants actually suffered bouts of "nerves" in their early performances! But, I'm sure London was (is) a serious place to put one's stamp on. Although the Cream reign was over before I was a concertgoer, I at least caught them at the Garden in 2005. My 20-year-old daughter, who's no fool, was screaming into my ear the entire show!! -KS www.inkrhythm.com

Dear Jack Bruce, I hope this can get to Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker too, but I'll search for their contact information. First of all, I have been meaning to write years ago. This is a serious letter in a serious world. I will try to be as honest and frank as possible in hopes that you understand my point. I am addressing this to all band members new and old (and to any they have passed on). I grew up in the 60' and 70's (I am 56) where the environmental movement really kicked in and the general attitude was for peace, etc. The only thing is I believed all the artists and their lyrics and music that related to all the beliefs, attitudes, and values of the time. And it wasn't wrong, and any one of you that sang about it and believed it-----it wasn't wrong. I wonder where are all those hippies with all their beliefs and determination, etc. today for the world (the environment I guess I am mostly speaking of today) are for it is worse than it has ever been. They didn't follow through, but got the money and finished their degrees and forgot about the world and the change it still needs. That's funny. They are hypocrits and actors. And me, well, after getting involved with an "end-times" religious cult (that I didn't know it was) in the mid 70's, well, I spent a few years looking and believing for the Lord's return and the end of the world sort of thing. Not me at all, but that goes to show you what man can do even with the Bible----it can be used as a tool of the devil (that is a real paradox). The date was set for 1981 and the big war in the Middle East was to be. So, during this time I gave up my rock music and long hair and friends as I was taught to do so by these people and their interpretation of the Bible. But, I am not preaching so I will make this short (enough people have been turned off to the Bible because of what these groups had done to me). I am not a preacher and don't want to be. I am still dealing with "their demons" or whatever strange thing came upon me, because of such a group. It does have it's consequences. But, that was then when I was involved. Many prophecies, too. The reason I am writing today is I am trying to get back "to the Garden" and I mean literally. I have had enough of this world and it can tire you out. I write because you are and were a part of my life for better or for worse ( and it was for better). I only hope you still are the way you were back then in your thinking and beliefs about the world and the environment, etc. I mean I hope you are not just in it for the money and that you have not been acting all of these years and I believe you haven't. Sure, money would appeal to me also at such a young age, but I hope you have gotten more out of it as you have said and seem to appear to have. (All through these years) So, my friends I am writing as a loner now and falling back upon the only thing I know at this stage of the game. I hope that, what it is all about, (even with all the hippies gone and their negligence of their own promises to better the world) comes through for me at this time. But, I want you to know you blessed my life back then; you know life was better, simpler, and right. It still can be and I guess I am trying to say that now. So, for not only me, but for you also, don't ever give up in being yourselves and in what you really believe, which is for good (I believe). Oh, I could write a book about this myself, but I know you are busy enjoying the way it started for you in the beginning and you also had to go back to it. That is why I am writing. I must and need to go back to myself, which those early days represent. Some will say (even Christians) forget the past, etc. That is the problem; I have forgotten what life used to be and how I used to be and me; I have changed for the worse. And, that is not good. Not to be yourselve is the greatest tragedy. Thank you for listening and I do hope you read this. It may seem funny, but you know if someone needed to say this to me, I would listen and be there. I am glad to have known you and I feel and know that through those years and the music ( and not the drugs of which I haven't done for years and never will again), the good times, (when life was good and free and it wasn't hard to get it), etc.---I have known you. We all were ourselves for better or worse. Keep on going for there are many years ahead. And, I hope you are doing what you want in life and are well. It's just that all those hippies are the leaders today, etc. that run the world and it is worse. Ironic. Take care, messengers of freedom and life. And, by the way, back in the 90's I grew my hair back. Just know there are still people out here today that need you and all that ever was and has been through the years as I said should continue. No need to reply. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Todd DeFrank

Jack, They are tearing down the Spectrum in Philadelphia this summer. I saw you there during the '68 farewell tour it was the gig just before the penultimate gig in MSG in 68. Anywho, there are allot of acts that want to play there one more time for historic purposes -- Bruce Springsten I beleive is playing there again, this is truly history in the making the Spectrum had allot of great events including boxing, hockey, etc. Cream should play their again before it gets torn down. ft

When I first started playing bass a few years ago, Jack was a strong influence because I just dig on his style! I have enjoyed and learned a lot from his Bass DVD featuring Gary Moore, too. Thank you Jack for your musical contributions!

Jack, I was looking forward to to seeing you in MD on April 7th, but the show has been postponed, officially due to "personal illness"(?!). I hope you are in good health and that we'll see you soon. My band GHz [Gigahertz] has just released a new CD that features three of your compositions and three other Cream songs, plus our own psychedelic blues originals and covers of songs by Hendrix and the Doors. I would love to mail you copies of the disk and to hear your impressions. The band web site is www.ghzband.com, and the disk is available on CDBaby and iTunes. In our live performances, our working repetoire features 20 Cream songs that we choose from, plus we play some of your post-Cream compositions such as Theme from an Imaginary Western and A Letter of Thanks. We are also constantly composing new material that we hope echoes these brilliant songs with a 21st century twist. I hope you are back on the road soon and the we don't need to wait too long for your rescheduled show. Best of health to you. John Z., the z of GHz.

Just rented the 2005 Cream Concert DVD. I'm keeping it! I thought it was a great performance by all. Music can keep you young, that was the best thing, to see you guys who have lived a full life still energized by music. The singing and bass playing were both right on, the spirit triumphs over all. For me, although I am a guitarist (for 38 years now) and a drummer (recent development!) Jack's voice is still the heart and soul of Cream. Really revolutionary music is always fresh, that goes for classical, jazz or rock. People will listen to Cream for centuries, it will always be powerful because it was inspired and often reached the level of collective genius, between the writing, singing and the three great intrumentalists who played off each other with so much taste and insight. Hope you will play somewhere in the northeastern US sometime soon. Your site mentions that your band can be hired. Perhaps my next birthday party? I wish! Thanks Jack, for everything!

Dear Jack, I have been a fan since age 11 (1968). Your music has been a big part of the soundtrack of my life. Your are one of the best musicians ever! It is great to see that you are still doing what you love despite your serious health problems of recent years. I had the pleasure of meeting you in NYC several years ago. Thank you for your graciousness! It was one of the happiest times of my life. Stay well and keep rockin! Bob in NJ
