Hi, Jack. I hope all is well with you and that you are NOT stuck in the Essex snow! I have just watched, for the second time, my DVD of Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's from last year. It struck me that his current (terrific!) music would be mightily enhanced by the Bruce bass and vocals. With EC getting together with Steve W. this year, what a treat it would be for all of us to have Beck and Bruce on stage together.......any chance?!?

Hi Jack! I'd like to suggest you a long time collaboration with Warwick Basses site, hosted by Florin Barbu. Countless people would be excited with your histories regarding the switch from Gibson EB-3 basses to Warwick ones. After all, what really matters is that your playing continues to have that psychedelia feel that made you famous. Best! Carlos Bill on bass. Carlos Bill on bass.

Jack - just a quick "thanks, mate" for many years of phenomenal music. While it's a long time since I last saw you live with Cream in New Haven Connecticut in 1967, I still listen to Wheels of Fire, and Disraeli Gears, and still smile remembering those amazing times. A few of my first bands performed Cream-esque versions of 'Spoonful' and 'Crossroads'. To this day, I still perform 'A Mother's Lament' at gigs. Be well! L.

Hi, Jack. I bought recently a live cd, a concert of BBC, with you, Graham Bond, Chris Spedding...Paris Theatre, London...You must remember of it easily I guess! The entire record is superb, as always; your bass is terrific! Spedding does his job very well too. It was recorded on 17 August, 1977. I can immagine how intense were those times musically; your solo albuns, they were all 'burning' still and your band was becoming more and more experimental. I miss those times. I hope your producing staff may have an idea of recording your appearances at the Ronnie Scott; why not, man? That's music turned into gold. Your bass playing...it carries all the weight of legend that it usually does with anyone. Best, Carlos Bill.

Still regarding the meaning 19th August, 1977 At The Paris Theatre Concert, BBC... Your liner notes in the sleeves of the cd are really indicative that that was a meaningful time for you. In fact, although probably you played better than that, prior to the concert and after the concert, I have to say that You Burned The Tables On Me, Folk Song and Smiles And Grins never sounded so beautiful. You Burned The Tables...was a bundle of amplified energy; and I could almost transport myself (in thought at least) to the beach and wildlife of Folk Song. The lyricism of such ballads of yours is, by the way, unique. I sincerely have not seen yet a musician with so much feeling inside. I guess Bob Dylan , James Taylor, Tim Hardin and Jimmy Webb come close, but they couldn't surpass you at all, because the intensity of your interpretations can't be matched at all. Congratulations Jack Bruce!! I wished I could have jammed onstage with you, both of us on bass...I'll 'research' more on your BBC concerts. Yeah, your more recent releases in your site... Carlos Bill on bass.

Hi Jack, This is not the first time I've posted in your guestbook! The last time I posted was before I went to see you perform with Robin Trower and Gary Husband at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London back in August last year. The show was absolutely breathtaking; I was very close to the stage and could almost touch your tweed jacket. Well......I'm very pleased to say that I have recently acquired tickets for your Monday night show at Ronnie Scott's (1st March 2010). To say that I am looking forward to seeing you again is an understatement. There is simply nobody around who can compete with your bass skills! I appreciate that loads of people make set list requests to you but I would love to hear you play one of the following:- 1. Traintime 2. Spoonful 3. I'm so glad Keep up the good work and (please) don't stop touring!! As long as I get a show in London from you once a year, I will be kept happy!!!! All the best and good health to you and yours. Ta, Ricky

Greetings Jack: I am a long-time fan of your music dating back to the late 60s. I have seen you in concert numerous times, most recently in NYC in 2005 I believe with the Cuicoland Express. I met you and Bernie Worrell that night and I also met you briefly after a gig on snowy night in Philadelphia on your tour with Ginger Baker in 1990 (I believe). As you were my favorite musician for so many years it was a dream come true to meet you face-to-face and have the opportunity to tell what your music has meant to me. I also met your ex-wife Janet Godfrey prior to a gig at the Bottom Line in NYC in 1977. She was quite gracious and walked my friend and I to the box office personally and had us placed on the guest list for the second show! I did not get to meet you that night but it was a thrill to have my friend take my photo with Ms. Godfrey and to see both sets of your performance that night. I saw Rick Derringer in the audience by the way, and you and the band were killer! I saw your son Malcolm perform with Leslie West and Corky Laing last week in Collingswood NJ. I was quite impressed with Malcolm's musicianship. As enjoyable as the show was, it would be great to see you perform again with Leslie and Corky. I would like to thank you for all the fabulous music through the years and wish you continued good health and success in all of your endeavors. Hope to see you perform in the states again soon. Warmest regards, Bob Clayton Bordentown, New Jersey USA

Great Show in the Albert Hall. Your writing with Mr.Brown is kind of Genius. What are you by the way. This is not a BASS Guitar you play. This is extremely Lead bass or whatever. Poor Ginger, he lost his hearing because of you an Eric. Do you really get on with Ginger now ? Any Posibillity to get the hole thing from 2005. I would love to see more from this. Hi Jack. It will be fine if I can find your new biography, COMPOSING HIMSELF: THE AUTHORISED BIOGRAPHY, by master Harry Shapiro, as soon as it will be released in Brazil. Because you cited Harry on the liner notes of the cd BBC Live In Concert, of 1971, recorded in London's Paris Theatre, in which he told the tragic story of Graham Bond (the fine book: Graham Bond: The Mighty Shadow), I can suppose how deep and full of variety and new facts must be this book. Best, Carlos Bill, bass player, composer.

Dear Mr Bruce, I have loved your music since the Cream days. I was in San Francisco in December 2005 and went to this bowling alley which had been turned into a music shop. I was too intimidated to browse so stuck to the Sixties section. There I found a double cd of Graham Bond Organisations two 1965 releases. I bought that because I did not have those LPs. Sir, what a revelation. I believe that John Mayall got his ideas from this band. Stormy Monday Blues, What I Say and quite a few others. I believe that if you put John's 1964 live album of December 1964 and GBO live album of that year it is no contest. GBO win hands down. I played bass in bands and had the pleasure of learning some of your bass lines. My favourite Jack Bruce composition - Theme For An Imaginary Western. So full of pathos.

Thank you, Natascha for your reply. You know the first time I heard Jack was when I heard CREAM; which was the best three-piece group ever. At the time, no one seemed to be playing bass like Jack. It was like listening to a deep-throated lead guitar. No wonder Baker had to play the way he did. He had to keep up! But that melding of blues, jazz and rock was priceless. Music that was creative, innovative and unique. And it is a shame we do not hear anything quite like it anymore. Mark A.

I would think that any collaboration between the two of you would have been extremely special. Hope you addressed it in your book. Why don't you bring your group to Bangkok someday? My home turf. You would be dangerous. Later.

Yes I just wanted to say that I've recently been listening to a lot of your music on my I Pod. As a baby boomer who bought Fresh Cream when it first was released I've stayed in touch with your music for years on and off. Looking back on it all including GBO (which I have recently been listening to for the first time ever) I have to say I reckon its a pretty damn good and interesting musical journey! Furthermore although you are a lot younger than Clint Eastwood I think the same can be said for you as is being said for him ie everything you are doing right now just gets better and better and more and more interesting! So keep up the good work! The only downside in my appreciation of your music is that I get tired of hearing re hashes of Cream numbers. The originals are best in my opinion and can never be beaten by any reworks. But I suppose you are bringing these tracks to younger sets of ears to listen to maybe for the first time ever and get their interest going in the originals! All the best to you.

Jack is the greatest ever! I love everything he has been involved with. The new book, Composing Himself is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't put it down until I finished chapter nine "Whatever Turns You On". That is the WBL album that first turned me on to Jack when I was 13 years old. That album inspired me to search out everything I could get my hands on that Jack was involved with. I'm still searching and buying anything I can find that is Jack Bruce related. I am quite devasted to hear what a terrible experience WBL was for Jack,Leslie and Corky. I am even more disappointed at the reputation this music has. "Token" and "November Song" are soo important to me. I'm also crazy about "Love Is Worth the Blues" and the live recording of "Powerhouse Sod" from "Live and Kickin'" In fact, I really like all of WBL's recorded works and wish I could have seen them live. I just had to set the book down for a moment to let it be known that Someone really enjoyed the music WBL made. Now, to chapter ten.

re : p bayley's comments. it seemed to me at the time that jeff beck was the obvious choice for guitar in the cream concept. he was , even then, the outstanding creative musician( rather than guitarist) that the trio needed and would have produced a foil for jack and ginger: that counterpoint that would have taken the trio where , as i understand, they wanted to go. jeff beck and jack bruce have re echoed each other's development thru an inventive approach to music free from genre cliche ( unless they wanted it) and capable of exquisite harmonic and melodic invention . fireworks.
