Just finishing Composing Myself at the moment and it reminds me that hearing Cream and Jack's solo albums was the reason I took up the bass in 1976. I have played a Columbus Jazz Copy with the frets ripped off ever since - with Jack's playing [mixed up with Jaco's] in the back of my head. In 1977 I saw Jack with the How's Tricks band at the Oxford Polytechnic as it was then. He was doing battle with a new fretless bass and it was see through! - perspex or something! Whenever I am playing with someone else for the first time, Crossroads is often the tune which brings it all together on common ground. I like the fact that JB is an individual and his music crosses boundaries, into jazz and classical. One of the great musicians and possibly the greatest bass player ever?

Dear Jack, It would be an honor if I was to meet you. I was inspired by you Musicianship and creativity very early on (1969-1972) and as a result took on learning to play the four string Bass for my very own. At the formost of experssion your style has always given me the interest to reach for the dynamic...I must say my favorite times listening to you was when you were playing with Leslie West and Corky Lang...( The Doctor!). You Voice has always inspired me to reach for the soul. Thank you for the spirit and the fun I have enjoy being a Musician...at times it has been a savior to me and you helped me down it's path with great joy. To your health, love of music and Family... ...one freind among many...Sincerely... Burt Kinney Arthur

Jack was the major musical influence during my teenaged years. I'm 59 now and finally have the wherewithall to travel and experience my past (and perhaps forever) heros live. However, Jack seems to have only one gig in California this year, and that being in Oakland which is quite a drive. Are there any projected performances in Southern California this or next year in Southern California or vicinity? I missed the Cream reunion of a few years ago. Thank you.

I had the privilege of hearing you perform live back in 1968,at the old Back Bay Theater in Boston, Massachusetts. Oh yeah, there were a couple of other guys with you, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. I remember being disappointed when Cream later broke up, but strangely yours were the only albums I remember purchasing after that, of the three of you. Sorry I missed you when you came through Columbus, Ohio a few years back. Any plans to come this way again?

jack, thanks. you have a way of bringing our drunkeness to the front, providing meaning to the madness of mind; we drink and smoke and whatever else we do to try and form meaningful thoughts................., never mind. You have the style of expression (you and robin these days especially), you allow us to remember what r&r is supposed to do(dream of greatness; maybe that's just me),but we're all guilty of the same thing, I think. We all want to be you guys. And if that's all I've got, I'll settle. Rock on, Greatness. Tell that other awesome f...er with the guitar that I said hi. And thanks again-

I had the great pleasure of seeing you play at the Blue Note 8pm Sunday show last week and had an excellent time.It was such a relief when I heard the announcement about the band's existence and that NYC was in the schedule.I thought it was so important for that music to get out into the air and for you to be doing it.I love that stuff so much.It was good to hear it in a club and at a volume that didn't exceed Jimi Hendrix!! The band did a wonderful job covering the hardest band in the world to cover.I loved how you sang"There Comes a Time."Beautifully done.....and such a cool song.I knew Cindy when she was a teenager and it was so nice to be able to say hello. What a drummer!Sorry I didn't get to talk to you,but yes, that was me sitting on the higher level of seats.Hope you enjoy the rest of the tour dates with the band.P{lease do not hesitate to do it again! Many blessings to you.

Empty Rooms - Gary Moore R.I.P. Saw Gary with Jack on a number of occasions - always excellent playing, usually from the Cream repertoire. He knew how to acknowledge the spirit of the song, without copying Eric's solos. He also recreated "I feel free" perfectly with Jack - something Eric didn't attempt at the re-unions. He'll be sadly missed.

Jack - We met at the Rainforest Benefit in London in May 2008. I'm Rick Nowels' friend and we chatted about Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson. You were gracious and generous and made it a trip well worth making from Chicago. I wanted to extend my condolences regarding the passing of Gary Moore. An unforgettable album. I hope your enjoyment in creating it matched the enjoyment my friends and I have gotten from that magnificent collaboration.

I saw Jack with Ronnie Scott's Blues Experience on Saturday night in the Arches in Glasgow. Fantastic seven piece band. The brass section allowed him to play some old favourites such as "Never Tell Your Mother She's Out of Tune" and an old Graham Bond number "Neighbour, Neighbour". Some of the audience didn't seem to realise that Jack has had a 43 year career after Cream as all they wanted to hear was "Sunshine". I thoroughly enjoyed the gig but what a horrible venue. Old brick railway arches with no seating. You could hear the trains rumbling overhead!

I had the absolute honor last month to meet Jack Bruce, however briefly, after the show at the Blue Note in NYC. As my wife said to Jack as she took a photo of us together, which is now being framed, "This is the thrill of a lifetime for my husband." And it was! What a nice, gracious man. Jack's music, from Fresh Cream on, has always been part of the fabric of my life. Many people have written songs, Jack has created a "Music". All of art is an attempt to interpret the world that we live in, whether it be painting, or literature, or music. Jack's music is, to me at least, a pretty fair interpretation of life as most of us experience it. Hence, the number of people who find the music of Jack Bruce so inspiring. How many other musicians can lay claim to that? I firmly believe, that when we are all dead and gone, and the history of "real" Music is written -- you will find the name of Jack Bruce enshrined with the likes of a Tony Williams, Charlie Mingus, Charlie Parker, Glen Miller, Beethoven and Bach. And many other musicians who are popular now will be relegated to footnotes, if that. Jack is what Music is all about-- Integrity of purpose, and never selling out on it. For that, Jack, thank you, from all of us second rate musicians on Main St. who have always been inspired to reach a little higher musically because of what you have done. I know you will not remember me, but I will always remember the time that I met Jack Bruce. Good health and God Bless, Jack (from more of us than you might realize.)

Dear Jack They've just played 'Tales of Brave Ulysses on 6music. Now I've always loved the track, but it's always irritated me that the music demands that the stress falls wrongly on the word Ulysees, Then it occurred to me that Odysseus WOULD have scanned perfectly. Did Peter Brown never consider this? And if rejected, why? Sorry for coming across as indescribably petty but it's something that's always bugged me Chris

Mr. Bruce, Your voice and bass technique have always been an inspiration, even to a drummer. I met you when I worked at a little music store here around 1988. You purchased a Heritage Archtop guitar after playing the chords from "As You Said" on it. I was speechless although I recognized the song immediately. I thought it "uncool" to reveal how thrilled I was to meet you. Just wondering if you still have the guitar although I wouldn't expect you to remember the occasion. How yu and yours are in good health. Mark

Hi Jack !! Just a few lines to remember your incredible performance in Sevilla, october 1991, the guitar legends nights, before the expo 92. You played with Phil manzanera from Roxy Music three songs: "Sunshine of your love","White room" and "The city of gold". A brief, but superb show, that I keep in my retine because I was there; you and roger waters the following night. Who was the drummer that played in the band that night ( a bald guy) who also joined eric clapton for the 24 nights tour in 1991 ?

Hi Jack; I'd like to take this opportunity to say that you're my favorite bass-man of all times. I have played guitar in live bands for 40 years. Mostly power trios. I've searched for, but have never found my ultimate bassplayer. You. No one can equal your musical talent. God bless

Jack, Myself and some friends were treated to a brilliant evening of superb bass playing and singing by yourself at the sold- out gig, Falmouth Pavilions on Sat 19 March. All of us were so impressed with the you and the band, the version of Spoonful, my second favourite track of all time, that was given a real work out and I was not disappointed by the lead work and of course, your sublime fretless bass playing. I managed to see you some years ago at Portsmouth Guildhall with, Glenn Huges and Frank Marino, all came out after the gig and signed stuff and chatted to everyone, you signed my CD`s album notes of Wheels of Fire and Shadows in the Air, a wonderful evening. But, this Saturday, I was fortunate for you to have signed my guitar, the Vintage SG, FOOL, I was so pleased when opened up the case and saw that you had signed it, may thanks. Then later in the bar, the rest of the band also penned their names on it. Great evening, great band, a real icon . And to think you played on my fav guitarist of all time, Frank Zappa, Apostrophe, just brilliant. Denis P Gibson.

I miss some words, but that does not matter.I am not upset, but after writing some text,I just had tried out the Clearout! button to see what would happen and indeed so it all had been cleared out ! So I mentioned Clearout! I have always felt strongly attracted by that song, though at the age I heard so I in fact had not much reason to share the feelings expressed in it as I hear it and I never was such an angry young man. Always had more or less still summer in my head in those days, but now I see more clearly. I am feeling so angry and helpless in this world.Of course there are more good people in the world, but we cannot change anything at all in what's going on and that's really killing me. I don't know what made me follow you.Sometimes I regret I wasn't there at the BBM gig, that afterwards represent for me most the Cream as I liked to hear. Later I had not such good feelings at a gig by Gary Moore.I don't know why.I don't complaint. But I wonder.I cannot analyse music that way. Well,it's time for Clearout. Think there is good reason to anger. Clearout !
