Jack Bruce lit the musical fire in my back in 1967 when I was 13 years old and I've never been the same. The most influential musician I've ever known and he alone got me through the ups and downs in my life journey. Now at 60 I still put the Jack Bruce Cream songs on in my car driving to and from work and the life rises up yet another notch. God bless you Jack for all you did for me.

It is with a mixture of deep sadness and joy that I wish to acknowledge Jack's passing. Sadness because he has gone, but joy because we still have his music and his memory. Jack has been a significant influence in my life, from my teenage days in New Zealand in the '60's, and beyond, and I am extremely grateful to him for that. Even my children knew what would be, for me, a very special 50th birthday present (some years ago, now). To supplement my collection of cherished LP's, they brought me into the "modern" age, with the DVD set of Cream's reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and this has become one of my most treasured and most played possessions. Jack has been such an inspiring human being, and I will be forever grateful for having known of him. Thank you, Jack, for all that you have been, and everything that you are. RIP, and we know that heaven will be a beautiful place, both for you, and because of you. Graeme J.

Jack was one of my biggest early influences. I bought an EB3 bass because of him. I've loved his music for many decades. His playing, songwriting and singing were stellar. Loved his solo career. Saw him for the last time two years ago in Spectrum Road. Thanks for all the great music Jack! Condolences to his family and friends.

In my opinion the best rock bass player ever!! He indirectly taught me to play bass in the early 70"s. Played bass through the 70's for a Cape Town band called THEM. We only learnt later after we broke up of the Van Morrison THEM band. I celebrated his life the last 2 days by watching the DVD of the CREAM reunion at Royal Albert Hall. RIP Jack...WE LOVE YOU!!

Been 48 hours since I submitted my tribute, haven't seen it since, so here goes again. Still deeply sad at the news, Jack Bruce was, is and always will be the bass players' bass player who continues to inspire me on the instrument. Played 'Songs For A Tailor' the other night, and it still sounds as 'now' as it did when I bought it in 1969. Rest in peace .........

Man where do I begin? Jack Bruce means everything to me, when I found out he died I just felt sick. He is the best, and most underrated bass player history has ever seen. He will always be apart of me, although I never got the chance to see him, his music has influenced me in a big way. Jack was the reason why I pick up my bass and play it every day. It is a big tragedy for the musical world to have lost him, it sure was for me, I grew up listening to his music and he will forever be inside my hart. Rest in Peace Jack. Love, Anakin Avila.

Thankyou so much for the opportunity to leave these comments, from those of us who were so inspired by Jack Bruce's music. For me, born in 1962, i found Cream in the early 1970s when music lit a fire in my imagination. My first two albums were Sergeant Peppers and Live Cream, and Jack's playing on Deserted Cities of the Heart, Ulysses and White Room has remained with me forever. Later, as a teenager, I took up the bass, and Jack remained my idol. In recent years i have spent many hours on You Tube watching his technique, and learning from his tuition. Thankyou, from one who never met you but whose life you have touched. And my condolences to his family....

Dear friends of good music! I hear and love the music of Jack Bruce since about 1983. I can still see myself as a teenager sitting in my room, as I studied the album covers and inlets of Cream and other artists, while the songs on the record player with the massive and overdriven Bass, as well as the unique voice, were played. From then on there was only one goal for me: I wanted to have each record, which had to do with Jack Bruce and I wanted to play bass - like Jack - so I browsed each record stock market and I bought a Gibson EB - 3 to play bass! How many more people in the world has probably inspired from Jackie since the 60ties? Another very intensive phase for me was the beginning of the 90s - Jack Bruce and Robin Trower - two albums from these guys are among my absolute favorites. My Walkman knew nothing else! By Jack I may know many directions of music - jazz, boogie woogie, rock, hard rock, blues, soul, opera, brass and certainly many other directions. Almost all other interpreters of my musical taste are rooted with Jack: Clapton, Mayall, Colosseum, Rafferty, Trower, Harrison, .... Mid-90s came the Internet. With the internet came the platforms like Youtube - much unknown material was accessible at once. You simply could not get enough of them. And with these platforms came the globalization of fans. Jessica from Mexico, Joke from the Netherlands and Jose Maria from Spain. Hi there! The Cream Reunion was experiencing live without chance for me - all tickets were sold out in real time! However, a godsend for me was the year 2009: Jack Bruce & Robin Trower live in Nijmegen (NL). What a wonderful concert! In parting, Jackie once again gave us a great album 'Silver Rails ' . A friend of mine, Martinus, wrote to his death: 'the master of the deep tones is gone forever. Now he plays in front of a different audience'. Thank you Jack Bruce for your music and rock on in heaven! Jens

I only met him once - when I 'guarded' his band's dressing room at some uni in the 70s. It was an ad hoc group with Mitch Miller on drums and other unexpected luminaries include in a cellist. The music was, of course, great and I have always been proud to have met this charismatic musician.

Jack's music was embedded in my cells when I was a teenager growing up in New Jersey. The sound of Cream was different than anything else heard at that time, and it resonated with all of us - like a call to the wild. But his music was so tight and organized that it made us all feel energized for the life and culture we believed in. That time is over of course, but I give thanks for the fine music of Jack Bruce that inspired several generations.

When I was at school me and a friend cast our favourite people in an imaginary film of a book we were doing in English - The Mayor of Casterbridge - we cast Jack as THE Mayor of Casterbridge - we thought he'd be perfect. His passing has brought that piece of childhood back to me and in it, and his music, he will live forever.God bless him and all his family.

I struggle to put into words the influence Jack had on me musically. From the first time I heard Cream, sure, being a guitar player, I was knocked over by Eric, but there was just "that something" about Jack's bass playing that forced the listener to pay attention to the bass...which changed how I listened to music from then on. RIP Jack. Thanks for all the music you left behind for me to catch up on.

Letters of condolence have poured in to me since Jacked Bruce passed away. So many people knew what a personal tragedy it would be for me, although we never met or even corresponded. I did send Jack Bruce the first two volumes of my book an odd boy because he is mentioned so many times in the context of bass, vocals, and harp. Jack Bruce was a major inspiration to me: from the age of 14 in 1966. He was an inspiration to my dear friend and co-band member the late Steve Bruce on lead-bass player. The Savage Cabbage Blues band, of which we were part, modelled ourselves on Cream to a large extent in terms of Blues. I was the vocalist, harp-player, and back-up bass so listening to Jack Bruce was pretty-much my religion at the time. I still listen to the Wheels of Fire album frequently today and Spoonful would be one of my desert island discs along with JS Bach, Handel, Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy. 71 years was too short a time for Jack to be amongst us. He was perhaps, more than any other, the man who made bass guitar a lead melody instrument. Much as I respect Eric Clapton it was Jack Bruce who was the musical hero of Cream and of a substantial period of my life. Jack, you are already too deeply missed to express.

RIP Jack Bruce, the supreme bass stylist, who revolutionized electric bass playing, sang like an angel and also played outstanding piano. Listen again to those amazing bass lines on 'Timeslip', 'Powerhouse Sod', 'How's Tricks' and see how Jaco Pastorius-the Hendrix equivalent on bass-was influenced by Jack. JB's incredible range of music had an innate soul and listening was a heartfelt connection. Still coming to terms with his loss and surviving by playing his entire back catalog. Heartfelt wishes to his family during this difficult time.

I was stunned and saddened by the news of the loss of the great Jack Bruce, probably the greatest Scot since Robert the Bruce. His voice was accurately described as near operatic, his compositions were complex, melodic and sometimes otherworldly, and his skills as a bassist were without peer. I am so thankful for his music and for the opportunity to have seen him twice, once as a solo act (though supported that tour by the equally-great Ginger Baker) and again at the Royal Albert Hall in the historic Cream reunion. He will be sorely missed, as the music world will not see his like again. But it is a blessing that he left us so much great music, by means of which he has become immortal. No doubt he will soon be composing and arranging (and singing lead) for the angel choir. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Jack has been my musical idol since Fresh Cream. Anyone that has ever known me has at one time or the other heard the name Jack Bruce from my lips. I am so thankful that in NYC I got a small chance to tell Jack face to face what I thought of his music. He patted me on the back and said that I was very kind. That was one of the highlights of my life! I will never forget it. Thank you Jack for all the incredible music that you made. Jack's music has always been such a large part of the fabric of my life. I am 59, so I was a teen during this wondrous musical time when so much great music, never to be replicated, burst forth. There was the Beatles, Stones and The Who. Then there was Cream. Then there was Jack. I was blown away. A quiet man with a powerful machine, that bass of his. Sure there was God and the everyday man's drummer, Ginger. I zeroed in on that incredible bass playing, that wrapped around me, binding me to the music. Rest in Jack, it was a pleasure welcoming you into my home and my psyche.

First, I want to offer my condolences to the family. Also, I want to say how much it meant to me to have Jack Bruce as a model - bassist, singer, composer - during my teenage years in the 1960s (14 in 1967). I have spent this week teaching "White Room", "Deserted Cities of the Heart", and more, to some of my students (I'm in the Music Department at the University of Connecticut). A fun postscript - a few years ago, the father of one of my students asked if I knew about "BLT" - I didn't, so I bought the CD - wonderful! Thanks, Mr. Bruce!

During my musician phase you were my idol. You provided me a source of inspiration and though we never met, a great amount of guidance all through your music. I will miss you.

Jack touched my life and gave me countless hours of enjoyment. He is, hands down, my favorite bass player of all time. We will always have his music. Thanks Jack!

Jack was the greatest bassist of the rock era, full stop, end of discussion, and also one of its greatest vocalists. His solo career was diverse and complex, challenging and enjoyable. I will miss him a great deal-he took me down musical paths that i would have overlooked, and was always a reliable guide. Love and condolences to his family and all of the other fans that mourn his death.

Jack Bruce was to me what it meant to be cool. Songs for a Tailor and Things We Like were the soundtrack to my adolescence. I love you, Jack. Thanks for everything.

I was very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I have been a big fan for over 45 years. I've enjoyed his bass and keyboard playing and his great vocals - what a voice. I was fortunate enough to see Cream in 1968 and Spectrum Road in 2012, the latter with my son who is a bass player. I'm glad I have all his records to listen to. My condolences to Jack's family; may he rest in peace. Regards, Jim

Jack Bruce was a tremendous force in my creative life, both for his incredibly talent as a musician, and perhaps more, for his lyrics. His words were conceputal pathways into the our collective consciousness: abstract, and yet, profoundly lucid. He was a master artist who will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family. Thank you for allowing all of us to share Jack with you. God bless.

Just someone who thought he played the bass incredibly well. My favorite bassist, from my favorite band; Cream. Always will be part of my youth and memories. My appreciation always.
