Jack was the greatest bass player of all time!! many are picked but few are chosen.. I first heard the Cream back in 1967 and they blew my mind.. I am a bass player myself and Jack was my biggest influence of all time.. he never sold out to hammer ons or taps and all that slap stuff truly a giant among musicians and composers.. seems so strange that I was listening to "songs for a tailor just the other day.. yeah; they don"t make music like that anymore.. God bless you all - R.I.P. Jack.. DB

Jack said to me of a favourite piece of music. It's called L'ascension by Olivier Messiaen who was a French composer I have loved for most of my life. Why I love his compositions is he shows that music has always existed. Humans only stole it. We borrowed it but it's in nature. It holds the universe together; ask any skylark or ask any blackbird they'll tell you. A beautiful piece of prose, composed in the moment from the heart like his peerless playing.

Jack's music and lyrics are of a timeless, almost tangible reality with strong visual atmospheres, as if we are there ourselves. For a lifetime we walked along with Jack through his rain soaked streets in deserted cities, we crossed the open fields and we arrived at the wavy sea to feel the vastness around us, or was it the emptyness in ourselves. And yet, as we move on, there on the horizon, there is always a place where hope is hidden, where the sun breaks through the clouds and our footsteps leave a trace in the morning dew, "we're in the open now, we can fly". Henceforth we will follow this road without Jack, but in the comfort that his music will always travel along. Pieter van Spaandonk, Paris 31.10.2014

Jack was one of my musical heroes, and his three solo albums following the break-up of The Cream--Songs for a Tailor, Harmony Row and Out of the Storm--remain among my most favorite musical offerings of all time. Whenever we of a certain generation lose someone like Jack Bruce it gives us pause...there are only a certain number of days we've been allocated on Earth...what have we done with the ones passed? What will we do with the indeterminate number of those remaining. Mr. Bruce appears to have followed his passion...music. From reading about him it sounds like he loved it very much. He created music that my bandmates and I covered and as a keyboard player I truly appreciated the bass lines he created and played. To leave a musical legacy that is likely to last forever is a huge accomplishment. Jack's music continues to touch many souls. And, based on the comments posted on his site, his legacy as a man is equally large. Tonight I'll be raising a glass and toasting Jack Bruce. He made a difference!

I am a drummer that played a number of Cream tunes back in the mid to late 60's. Saw Cream at "The Scene" in Milwaukee in 1968, and I loved evrything about the band and their music. It made me sad that it all ended within a couple of years back then. I thought Jack was an extraordinary bass player and his vocals were one of a kind. He displayed his emotions through his music. I will never forget that concert and the music that he wrote and played over the years.

Jack Bruce was the greatest musician to ever walk the Earth. My favorite vocalist, bassist, songwriter changed my life forever. I have collected nearly everything Jack ever recorded with anyone. Last week, I began a two-week shut-down at work which gave me the chance to listen through all of Jack's work on a whim. As I worked my way up to Silver Rails I had to research a song Too Many Cooks With Mick Jagger for info online and saw Jack's Obituary. I was shocked. Somehow, I expected Jack to live forever. But, of course, he will through all of his wonderful music. It is so appropriate that one of Jack's biggest fans in the whole world was unknowingly paying tribute to Jack by immersing myself in his entire catalog as Jack lay on his deathbed. He will dearly be missed. Long live the music and memories of Jack Bruce.

What a sad day for rock music. Saw Cream at Winterland. They changed my perspective on music forever. A great bassist, song writer and singer; he will live on forever in his music. "And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table" May you find peace, Jack.

Oh.My.Goodness! This last week has been nothing short of amazing. Not just because of so many folks writing and sharing. Not because of so many articles - repetition and focus on Cream notwithstanding. No, it's the music. I own all his releases and a great many of of his collaborations. Listening to things shared here, plus mown stuff recently, the virtuosity in playing and writing simply astounds me. Over the years I had become inured to it. I had become blase. Silly me. Cream tunes. The big three: Songs for a Tailor, Harmony Row, Out of the Storm. Through so many more (especially the Kip stuff), ending with the masterful gifts of Spectrum Road and Silver Rails. For many days my emotions have been all over the place. Now my mind reels. Thanks you, Jack. Thank you, his family, for so joyously sharing him with us.

In my youth Cream blew my mind troughout. Later I became aware that Jack was the Composer and writer of the most of their material. And I became a fan of Jack from then on. Silver Rails was a thrill to listen to,so vital and so fresh. Rest in Peace Jack but Your Music and your bass playing wont be forgotten.

Jack was always a personal favorite of mine. His music got me through some difficult times. His Harmony Row was continually on my turntable during my freshman year in college. When I was a teenager, the break-up of Cream was upsetting. When I saw Blind Faith formed later, I got mad at Eric and Ginger because I thought it was a nice way of getting rid of Jack. May he rest in peace.

Music is a gift, I can play notes but not music on my guitar, though I try every day, to hear Jack Bruce was inspirational because it was true, something you don't see at all today, we are better for his time with us, and lesser now that he is gone.

Next to the Jefferson Airplane Cream was the band of my youth. I played their albums non-stop while in Vietnam and college. They were a sound I could never get enough of or get tired of. Even today a Cream tract on the golden-oldies station takes me back to a time and place(s) that were my youth and helped mold me into the person I am today. Goodby Jack, every Cream and BBM song I play will remind me of you and how time passes.

jack was a great musician this is very sad. i know its to late now but did jack and billy preston try to get on a transplant list for their liver problems. seems like such a waste losing them. curtis salgado and walter trout and david crosby were saved by liver transplants. i wish jack could have been saved as well as billy preston. rest in peace jack you are and always will be a legend.
