So sad to hear of the passing of Jack. At 63yrs old I've been a life long fan of Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. I was lucky enough to see their reunion show at Madison Square Garden. Ever since I first heard Cream in the mid 60's I've felt that Jack Bruce's bass playing was the best I ever heard and his haunting voice on so many Cream songs and solo work was one of the most uniquely recognizable to me. His musical genius will be sorely missed, but I'm grateful for the many recordings I have to always bring Jack Bruce back into my life. R.I.P. Jack Bruce.

Still coming to terms with Jack's passing. He was a musical phenomenon; a outrageously gifted musician who revolutionized the electric bass, played evocative piano and sang like an angel. There was an honest to his music that always moved me greatly. (EC has it too.)Yet it's a sad indictment of the suits who run the music business that for most of his post-Cream career he was almost forgotten and didn't have a record contract. After listening to most of his back catalog since Saturday and then listening to Jaco Pastorius's debut album, it's clear where the latter got his main influence. Listen to those amazing bass lines on, 'How's Tricks', Powerhouse Sod', 'Keep it Down' and the 'Spirit: Live at the BBC' Live sessions. That's true soul. Deepest sympathies to his family on their loss.

As a "baby boomer" born in 1951, "Cream" was one of my most favourite dance bands. Their music had me dancing on tables, dance floors of every description and among my first collection of 45's that I bought way back in the 1960's was Cream, Cream, Cream. This was one of the most significant phases of my life.........music was real, honest, poetic and sent many messages to a generation 'on the brink' of amazing changes. This wonderful song, written by Jack and Pete Brown, comes to my mind when I think of the great legacy Jack Bruce leaves behind to all of us who loved his music so much. I was born in 1975 and first got to know Jack's music as a teenager when my father told me about this legendary band named Cream. It was songs like White Room, Sunshine Of Your Love, N.S.U. and I Feel Free which made me want to dig a little deeper into his catalog, especially as a solo artist. What I found there was marvellous and so much different from other rock artists. His musicianship remains unique. Glad I had the chance to meet Jack once briefly in 2000, after a Ringo show in New York City. Meeting the man in person had such an impact on me, I could only go "Love you, man" and he replied "Love you too, man" upon signing the All Starr Band Tour Book for me :-) Rock on, Jack, your music will always be around me! I have never been a hero-worshipper as such, but Jack was my hero and inspiration to follow my muse and whilst I wouldn't consider myself in Jacks class he made the bass such an important feature of modern music and I continue to try to innovate with the bass. Listening to Something to Live For as I write this. As with all Jacks songs, there is such beauty and meaning in it. Met Jack once many years ago in a London studio. Such a gent, willing to share his knowledge and experience. With his passing a great light has gone from the world but I would suggest his music will pass from generation to generation forever.

My sincere condolences to Jack's wife Magrit and their family. I had the great pleasure of meeting Jack and Magrit twenty years ago in New Orleans at an intimate wedding reception for my friend, the bride, and her husband, a prominent New Orleans musician. I also spent the next evening with them at a small dinner party where Jack entertained with great stories. I found him to be very insightful, funny, warm and genuine. I recall him speaking about his children with much love, and the adoration and respect he had for Magrit was quite evident.

My saddest condolences to all of Jack's family, friends, fellow musicians and adoring fans. Back when I was 14, being a huge Cream fan, it was Jack's amazing Bass playing and wonderful singing which inspired me to become a musician and Bass player, struggling for years to learn many of the songs and Basslines which I knew in my heart but simply could never do complete justice to. Although being a fairly good Bass player, I finally abandoned that goal, developed my own style (with lots of Jack's influence) and chalked up the inability to "be" Jack to pure magic and individuality. I was devastated when Cream broke up, but was later consoled to find Jack's solo albums which I loved every bit as much and often even more than the Cream albums. I only ever managed to attend one live Jack Bruce concert, but it was certainly the most memorable show I had ever seen. I only hope for all of us, that there will be some similar consolation to Jack's passing as were Jack's solo albums to Creams passing. Love to all, especially Jack. I met Jack and the other members of Cream at an early 'test gig' in a community hall back in the 60's. I was a teenager and helped carry the gear. My mates and I chatted to Jack and the others about music by the sink and the tea urn. It was a pivotal moment for me and more particularly for a friend of mine who was an aspiring guitarist, who then jammed with band, and subsequently forged a successful career in music. Jack Bruce helped introduce me to music when I first heard his incredible voice in Cream . His bass playing also opened my eyes that the instrument that usually stays mostly in the background could be played as a second lead guitar . He really helped me to appreciate how much music three gifted musicians could create . I followed his career since 1967 and bought many of his albums . Unfortunately I never saw him perform on stage . It has been one of my major regrets in the music world . I will miss him.

Since 1968, when I first heard Cream (Disraeli Gears), Jack Bruce has been for me a musical lighthouse. He lit the way for me and many others to discover many other musical worlds, including that of the man Jack called "the guv'nor" - J.S.Bach. Jack literally opened the door to the entire world of classical music for me. At the same time, he was was always up there out front. His work with the Tony Williams Liftime and John McLaughlin and Carla Bley in 1970-71, simply awesome. But it was HIS playing in those long improvisations by CREAM that really amazed and moved me and sowed in my life the seed of an ideal - that of a dynamic threefold community, which I rediscovered in the 1980s and which has never left me since. Jack's bass playing was the uniquely creative middle term, the essential bond and bridge between Eric's soaring flights and Ginger's rhythmic will. In the playing of those three, I saw and heard - but did not realise it yet - the revelation of the threefold interweaving human being - body, soul and spirit - in music. And after Cream, Jack expanded his musical heart to embrace so many forms of music and musicians and became an ongoing creative inspiration to so many musicians and fans. Heartfelt thanks to him and to Margrit and Jack's family for helping him to be that inspiration for so long. What a legend! Songs For a Tailor is an absolute classic album - not tied into trends and fashions at the time and so it still retains a great freshness. There simply aren't enough words to describe how much love, appreciation, respect and awe I have for Jack. His influence can be found in every aspect of my playing (bass, piano, cello), singing and even composition (being a schooled Bach musician as a kid as well). Back in the late 1960s, when I was playing bass with a garage band in Memphis, my musical hero was Jack Bruce, and I spent every penny I had on a Gibson EB-3 because I thought that alone would help me play like him (it didn't). A few years later, one of the greatest concert experiences of my life was getting front-row seats to a West, Bruce, and Laing concert. Godspeed, John Asher Bruce. I'll never forget the impact you had on my life.

Jack Bruce has died. A great musician and singer about whom the description "SUPERSTAR" was applied for the first time. I was privileged to represent him for a short time. He shocked me by saying I was the first manager he ever had who came to more than one of his performances. We were together in my car when we heard about the shooting of Felix Pappalardi, who had produced The Youngbloods, Cream and continued to record Jack. We were both shocked, dismayed and sad. That's the way I feel today. R.I.P. Jack.

I have listened to Jack all my life since purchasing Fresh Cream back in the mid 60's. Wheels of Fire was always my favorite but always dug the haunting We're Going Wrong" for the emotion in Jacks' singing. Later, I fell in love with Songs for a Tailor and especially Harmony Row. Last night I have a glass of scotch and smoked a cigar and listened to Victoria Sage over & over as I cried my eyes out. Jack, you are with Felix now! My first record I bought was White Room. I'd listen to the radio all day long waiting for that song. I loved Jack's powerfull and crisp tenor volce. He also was a brilliant and innovating bass player and genious composer. Cream never can perform again. Thank God that I bought the Royal Albert Hall reunion concert in 2005. What can one say? Like James Jamerson, Bruce was undoubtedly the major influence to many rock bassists, and singers too. And we can't limit him to a genre as he scaled the walls of all of them. I am so glad I saw him play at the July 2009 Hippiefest in Grand Prairie, Texas. Jack was in a class by himself as a musician and a composer. He initially grabbed many of us with the blues and psychedelic rock of Cream and in the ensuing years took us on a musical journey as he explored the many facets of his vast musical talent. What a legend! Songs For a Tailor is an absolute classic album - not tied into trends and fashions at the time and so it still retains a great freshness. I wish I had gotten to see Jack perform live. He was one of the most prolific song writers of all time, He revolutionized the way the electric bass was played and was a huge influence on most of my bass playing heros such Felix Papallardi and Allen Woody. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jack and would like to extend my sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. I have been to many concerts all my life but the Cream reunion shows in 2005 were my best ever experience. I went to all of them and was overwhelmed with emotion. In June 2011 I was hanging around with a few fans after Jack played a show in Zurich and it was pouring with rain. Much to our surprise, his manager came outside and invited us all in to meet Jack backstage. I am quite shy but Jack made me feel totally at ease and he had such a great sense of humour. I will always treasure these memories. RIP Jack, thank you for the music and for giving me the chance to meet you.

Was really getting into my Cream records lately, my big bruv used to play their records to me and saw them up the road in the sixties. I was too young to go. But last Saturday i bought a vinyl 'Harmony Row'. When i got home i heard the sad news. Got a dvd lined up to play too! But i hope we'll hear him playing in heaven!!!. R.I.P. Thanks to the great Colombian musician Humberto Monroy (founder of Speakers), first heard at Cream in 1969. Since then Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Giger Backer are my idols, but now that Jack is gone, I feel a deep sadness. Produces a deep depression knowing that three and will never be back together. A hug for solidarity from Bogota (Colombia) to the family of Jack definitely a super musician.

My introduction to rock & roll was September 19, 1970: seeing a Led Zeppelin concert that afternoon and watching Cream's Farewell Concert film that night. I became a Jack Bruce fan for life that day. As a rock guitarist since my teen years in the latter 60's, I have listened to, studied, and played most of Jack's compositions from his band Cream, and have never tired of re-playing his music in my head. His was such a fascinating choice of notes, phrasing and lyrics, that it almost defies human capability. Please accept my heart-felt sorrow at his passing.

I was a lucky kid growing up in New York City when Jack, Ginger and Eric came to play at the Filmore East one night in Greenwich Village. I bought a ticket for the late show and will never forget that night. Years later when I became a guitar instructor one of my students' all-time favorite songs to learn was "Sunshine of your Love." I can still hear his beautiful vocals ... I can still feel the thrill of his gift. His artistry is imbedded in my heart.
