Each of us is unique, but Mr. Bruce was more unique than most. He was bold and confident. He had a beautiful voice, the most powerful I've ever heard. He was the greatest bass player. His songwriting and his choice of musical collaborators showed his sophistication and good taste. I wish to express my gratitude for his life and my deepest sympathy to his family.

Disraeli Gears and Goodbye cream were the first two albums I ever bought and played them until the grooves wore out. Growing up in the blues, jazz and rock cultural void of Zambia and Rhodesia in the sixties I initially had a hell of a job selling my friends to Cream. Once hooked however they were taken fully line and sinker also. Your music and your memory will live on forever Jack. Rest well and rest in peace.

The greatest has gone. damn. I'm only 2 years younger than Jack, and was in London in 1968-69 when the boys were the supreme group. And they still are - led by the voice and bass power of Jack Bruce. Too young to go, but the legacy is unmatched and will always be there. Vale. GN

Cream made a big impression on me as a 16-year-old in 1968, unfortunately just as they were breaking up. But have followed Jack, Eric and Ginger's careers ever since and was there in May 2005 at the Albert Hall, after snapping up a box office return. Also saw Jack at the Edinburgh Festival a couple of years ago. Loved the man and his music. Condolences to all who were close to him. RIP

I bid a good bye to an uncompromising , brilliant songwriter as well as a true innovated who helped to take the bass out of the shadows and make it as important of an instrument as any other on the band stand. A huge personal thanks for all of the great concerts and incredible albums ! Jacks fearlessness on the bass help to forge a legion of upfront bassist. much to the joy of the audience and much to the fear of many a guitarist (who was used to being the only lead instrument in the band) He made you say Look The bass is a powerful music instrument and no longer can be seen as A low end metronome. Jack had the most unique voice on the bass along with his gifts as a supreme vocalist and multi instrumentalist that never sold out and went the commercial route. I miss him dearly . Jack is now in the company of so many other musical trail blazers that left this world far to soon. In a time when the music industry is geared towards the taste of ten yr old girls Jacks uncompromising vision burned like a beacon on the horizon and gave many Including myself the courage to play out side of the box ,think outside the box and try to put forth a Real statement on the instrument. Thanks Jack you have firmly placed your stamp on the entire musical world with your brilliance ! and we the fans love you for it. Good bye great mentor and rest well . jack now joins with his friends and collaborator,s such as Jimi Hendrix , Frank Zappa and so many of the Real innovators of popular music! may god bless you and always know that you did change the musical landscape FOREVER ! I remember watching Jack in Alexis Korner's band at the Ealing Club, playing double bass solos with such passion and energy that he would hang limply on the bass at the end of his solo, completely drained, as the band swung on. It was such a band too - Ginger on drums, Dick and Graham on tenor and alto saxes (after Cyril left) and of course Alexis's super-tight rhythm guitar.

Before this morning when I read this sad news, there have only been a couple deaths of musicians that had brought me to tears. John Lennon was the first and Lonesome Dave Peverett (Foghat) was number two. This morning I have to add Jack to that short list. I came of age with the music of Cream. To Jack's family, I just wanted you to know how much Jack's music meant to me. I am a guitar player, and I spent many hours of my adolescent years listening to and playing along with Jack's music. It was the perfect vehicle for Cream's sound. As a matter of fact, you might say that Jack's music kept me on the straight and narrow. While many of my friends were out getting themselves in trouble, I was home playing along with Jack, and I wanted to be nowhere else! So thanks Jack for all the great music. I still enjoy listening and playing along. I recently purchased Silver Rails, and what a wonderful album that is. You can tell that Jack might have been thinking about what was next for himself. Thank you Jack for being such a 'definitive moment' in my life at age 12, when I first heard you and Cream play on the radio.(I am British from London, even though my address is now Florida. I married an American 3 years ago). My world was never the same afterwards. Your skilled, high quality musicianship,lyrics and melodies had a huge impact on the way that I developed and, perceived the world.It awakened in me, a deep passion for the influence of the language of music and words, so skillfully navigated together. My view of the world, as the daughter of a holocaust victim, who'd survived an horrendous tragedy, was quite the 'me' in the 'white room with black curtains', and, experiences of being bullied, as a result of my 'background', seemed such a struggle to comes to terms with. Yet,Jack's lyrics and compositions, so powerful and deep, were able at a difficult age for me, at puberty, to help me to overcome that bleakness and, find a way to live with a new hope and, a power in myself, to rise up and believe in the power of the goodness, justice, and, the gifts that we are blessed with, in order to make that, a message for others to live by. I went on (in London), to become a Modern Language, English and Special Needs teacher in the UK, for 32 years, in mostly management and Senior Advisory roles. I attribute a lot of my success, to the perceptions,contributions, meanings, hopes and passions portrayed in those tender years, in which, the likes of Jack Bruce and Cream,facilitated hugely in laying the backbones and foundations of my life to come. Thank you Jack Bruce and Cream. Now, you really are 'Feeling Free', in his 'White room', in the 'Sunshine of your Love'..God. R.I.P Jack, as the Legacy and Legend lives on in all of us, for generations to come.

I first heard Jack on the radio with 'Sunshine of Your Love'. Followed him on Songs for a Tailor.Things We Like & saw him in 1972 Seattle concert with West,Bruce & Laing(awesome). Bought all Cream albums including Those Were the Days, several versions of Wheels of Fire,Ships in the Night & the DVD's of the Albert Hall Shows. I weep at his loss. I loved the that dude. I recently rediscovered my fondness for the music of Jack Bruce after a hiatus of nearly thirty years. I reduced my old Cream LPs and Harmony Row to digital recordings. I was fortunate to be able to pass along an appreciation of those great efforts to my son. One of his favorite songs is "Theme for an Imaginary Western." For whatever reason, he prefers the Mountain version to Jack's, but I cannot fault him for that, I guess. I feel as though a piece of my past has been taken from me. May he rest in peace!

Saw Jack at age 12 with Cream at the Family Dog in Denver Co. 1967? Again with Jack Bruce and Friends 1982 at the Rainbow Denver Co. Mostly listened to every chord and harmony on all of his recordings. Met more to me than most musicians I knew personally. His compositions provide an astounding legacy

Jack Bruce was a big influence to my singing and songwriting. I had the chance to see him perform live at the PinkPop festival in the Netherlands somewhere in the middle of the seventies. Still one of the most brilliant concerts I attended. R.I.P Jack, you will never be forgotten.

A week and my heart still hurts and my spirit is all so restless. I have followed Jack since Fresh Cream and well, some say, I play just like him, I certainly have practiced thousands of hours. Simply put, Jack was Cream and I'll miss him always. A part of me is gone. I played my SG standard bass last Saturday to pay respects. Live Cream is still my favorite jam. As important as Jack's music was to me when in Cream, the incredible songwriting in SONGS FOR A TAILOR and other solo albums were far more beautiful and intelligent.
