I have been a fan since the Cream days, but it is Jack's solo career that really inspires me. He is one of my 3 favorite male vocalists of all time and will remain a favorite on my playlists until such time as I join him beyond. My sympathies to family and friends.

Jack Bruce along with Eric and Ginger, was a massive part of my life, without ever meeting Jack or his bandmates. I've never heard anyone play the Bass Guitar like Jack. He was a truly unique musician, and a fantastic singer and songwriter. As a guitarist myself, he was and is a huge inspiration. Best wishes to his family who must be very proud of him. RIP Jack.

I was 10 yrs old when Cream was making there Magic. Then I listened to their songs on the radio and vinyl as if they were always there to listen to, a staple like Elvis or the Beatles. I purchased the reunion concert DVD 3 years ago and was blown away at how great they sounded! Then I did a bunch of research and realized how much they were different than other legends, they did it in 2 short years !! Love Seven Moons too, God Bless Jack!!

Jack Bruce played a very special part in my life. I never met him but his music inspired me to follow a career in the creative world. His album 'Songs for a Tailor' had special significance and remains without doubt my most treasured album. I am not sure if he realised just how loved and respected he was amongst thousands of fans. He may not have enjoyed the huge success that Eric Clapton enjoyed post Cream, but his body of work is sublime. God bless him for enriching my life and for his creative genius. He will be hugely missed by very many people.

Terribly sorry for the news of the passing of your dear family member. It seems odd to have felt a part of someone who was of such influence, I suppose that's the nature of modern media and the world, that Jack and others occupied, from the 60's onward. But I didn't know him, only his music and style, which inspired me to pick up the bass and attempt emulation. It was with as much joy, a few years back, when I was fortunate enough to see Jack in concert in Sacramento, California, as it is with the sorrow experienced with news of his passing. His music will remain a part of the soundtrack of so many of our lives, thank you so much for sharing him with us.

Cream absolutely electrified me as a young man. To answer Jack's question: Yes, I can follow. I've followed Jack's many musical trails since Cream with loyalty and anticipation. I've loved both his solo and collaborative work and all of the beautiful partnerships with Pete Brown, Paul Haines and Carla Bley, Tony Williams, Kip Hanrahan and others. I've loved his piano, cello, harmonica and, of course, his bass but I've loved his singing the most. Jack's interpretation of lyrics was always profoundly intelligent and deeply felt. I have never and never will tire of the best of his work and I'm very thankful there is so much of it. Even though I'm mourning now I know his work is all there to follow for the rest of my life.

I KNEW Jack personally along with my ex-husband Dave Stoltz who owned a bass of Jack's that he returned and in turn Jack gave Dave on of his Bass guitar's. There will never be a better Bass Player or singer in the Rock World. Jack could also sing and play Jazz and Latin Music. It was an honor to have met and know him. The world has lost a treasure ! I am just finding this out by reading the internet as I believe I did not know or remember of him passing. I send my regards to Margrit his wife and all his children. Margrit I hope to see you again some day ! Love, Pam Stoltz P.S. I am sure Dave will get in touch with you at some future date. I aha living at a health facility due to Diabetes and some clots on the Brain which created short term memory but I am doing much better. Due to Jack's influence I hope to get my music out there and write some more. If you are ever in the states please contact me at West Hartford Health and Rehab in West Hartford Ct for the next year and a half. After that I will get an apartment. Try contacting Dave if he has not contacted you all ready. God bless and in a year and a half I hope to see you as I have flying benefits from working for American Airlines. We shall see. Love, Pam Stoltz

G'day Family and fans of Mr Jack Bruce, I have just learnt of Jacks death. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Jacks music has resonated with me through my life since I first heard that wonderful sequence of notes that he created for the song, sunshine of your love. It is why now at 57 years old I am playing that song in a garage band that's happened with a bunch of old farts! who have gotten togerther in the last two years. About 10 years ago I finally was able to play that riff. What joy. I reckon Jacks in a musical paradise leading choirs of voices in beautiful song. His legacy will be remembered forever. Music that sensational won't die. Gerry.

My sincere condolances to the Bruce Family on the passing of Jack Bruce an extrordinary musician & human being. Jack along with Cream members Eric & Ginger were with Jimi Hendrix my 1st & main musical influence for electric guitar since 1967, the year I started playing guitar, to this day these two bands for me ARE the best and are unsurpassed, words can not really describe the sadness of this news but his music will live on forever, thankyou Jack, rest in peace, Rowan Turner.

I grew up through the 80''s as an early teenage bass player, off my chops listening and being fully turned on with inspiration that still runs through my blood to this day, whilst sorely missed by family, friends, colleagues and fans, it must be of some comfort that Jack connected with so many people globally and for me left a define to stamp on a style of bass playing & sound.

As a young man growing up in the 1960's I enjoyed Jack's music and still listen to it just about every day. I enjoy sharing his music with young people on the social networks and their positive feedback how they enjoyed listening to him. Jack will be sorely missed but the wealth of music and inspiration he leaves us will be enjoyed by us and future generations. My prayers are with family, friends and fans.

Jack had (has still) a profound affect on my life,..and I'll always wish i could have personally told him so as a means of saying "thank-you" in the most gracious way I could muster. There were times in my life where moving forward became difficult,..in those times, where hope seemed like a luxury afforded to those who still belived in it (times were tough),.Jacks music, his capacity as a bassist, his drive as a self-made-man,..are what trully carried me through those hard times. Just knowing that a single man (jack bruce in this case) could persevere through his own adversities gave me power to see myself through my own. Personal stories aside,. I'll NEVER forget the first time I saw him perform (granted, i was born a generation later than his,.. so i witnessed his greatness through the majic of television). I came home from a highschool party the following morning,..all hung-over with one eye barely open. My friends from the party had just heard me the night before profess that I wanted to play a musical instrument, but I couldnt decide which to choose of all the instruments available. As I stumbled through my mothers front door well after sunrise that morning, the phone rang (and thank god it did,.it interupted the flurry of shit I was about to recieve from my mother as she waited for me that morning). It was one of my best friends,.he simply told me of a television channel that I MUST turn on right away,..and Im so glad i did! On the television was Jack Bruce,..absolutely crushing it on electric bass guitar at the Royal Albert Hall with Cream. At that very instant,..a bolt of energy shivered down my spine,.it sobered me up and I was transfixed. I could hear or see nothing else but Jack,..as if focused in some sort of tunnel vision. I could hear his bass and see him play it,..and it dawned on me after the television broke to a commercial that I had been singing along with his bass lines, and moving my arms and hands as if playing Bass,.. At that very moment, I instantly knew,..I was a Bass player. I just needed someone like Jack to tell me that. It had more of an impact on me personally than I would have ever expected. Ill be eternally greatfull for that moment of guidance,.i may very well have never made that realization without Jack helping to point the way to the path. I just wish I could have told him so,.. Ill miss you Jack, Thank you for all the inspiration, You made a real difference in my life,.. I owe you one! :-) -justin

I'm so sad. Not "I'm so glad". I loved Jack Bruce's music. When I was young, I heard White Room and they didn't play it enough on the radio for me. His music and lyrics were so soulful, from Cream to West, Bruce & Lang, I loved his music. So sad. May God bless him and I hope he's playing in Heaven:)

We went to Cream's Farewell at the "then" Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles in 1969. Jack Bruce was a great inspiration to me as a music lover, and certainly a strong influence on my choice of careers as concert pianist and symphony chorister. I began that very year, 1969, though very "late" at the age of 18, to study piano with the head of the UC Irvine piano department, and concertized here and there, and at the American Cathedral of Paris. Years later, I was given a "chair" on the risers of the Cleveland Orchestra stage, as a member of their choruses, by another Brit, Gareth Morrell, who studied at Guildhall School and Cambridge, and we sang EMI's Centenary Gala Concert in Birmingham that summer, 1997. (The violin soloist in that concert, Nigel Kennedy, probably had a debt to Jack as well, judging by his rock demeanor!) It was about that time I came across the book on "Cream" that described Jack's love of the Bach Cantatas, and how he was inspired to write contrapuntal bass melodies, in essence, after savoring the bass lines of Bach while a student and becoming what I, and some fellow called Roger Waters, describe as the greatest rock bassist ever. His compositions with Cream were a driving theme in my teen years, and beyond, and connected me to both Rock AND classical music, all because he was so powerful, original, and unique in his musical conception. His great work was a liberation and consolation for me while at military school when I first heard him, and surely contributed to my leaving all that and following the Muse! My love for him and his musical spirit knows no limits, and I will have him often in my heart and thoughts in the time of his passing forward, onward, upward. May God speed his spirit and soul to Heaven. Peace forever, Jack Bruce, from all who love you!

Revolutionary virtuoso of the Bass guitar and one of the pioneers of Psychedelic Rock Blues of the late 1960's. A fantastic musician, singer and song writer, who was a true genius, ahead of his time in his discipline. In 2005, I was one of the lucky ones, fortunate enough to have seen Jack reunite with Cream for one of their last ever live shows together at the RAH. Along with the true greats of the era such as John Entwistle, his legacy will live on as one of the finest Bass players that ever lived. RIP

Dear Bruce Family, I am so saddened by the loss of Jack. He will go down in history as being the greatest bassist in the world. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Jack when I was a mere boy of fifteen years. I ushered at the San Jose Civic Auditorium back in the mid to late '60's. I worked the night that Cream played there. I was the tallest and biggest usher(I played American football in school) so they would always put me up on the stage when huge acts such as Cream were there. There were over 3000 young folk outside without tickets that wanted in! The police had to chain the theatre doors closed. The audience was crazy and almost out of control by the time Eric took the stage. Eric had seen me earlier and had chosen me as his stage body guard for the show. I was so rocked by that!!! Well as it went, mid way into "Sunshine Of Your Love", the audience started rushing the stage. We were all pushing back and fighting back the crowd however, soon after the mayhem erupted, Eric grabbed my arm and yelled "Get me off this f......in stage!" So I did with Eric in tow by my belt, I crossed the stage and latched hold of Jack and said 'come on Jack' and I drug them through the mob and out to their bus. I felt like the biggest, baddest and proudest guy in the world that night. Not only had I stood on stage with the most awesome band of the '60's but I got to save two of them from certain mauling by that crowd. Believe me when I say that it was not only my pleasure to do it but it was also an honor, the greatest one of my life. That night is the way I shall always remember Jack Bruce. I will greatly miss him. God bless and keep you all. With my deepest sympathy, Dick Varner

The first live concert I attended was Creams farewell concert in 1968. From that day on jack provided an important part of the soundtrack to my life. Cleary both a passionate and considerate man (judging from the BBC Scotland programme aired on BBC4 last night) but he was also much more than a bass player. He wrote beautiful tunes and had a unique voice. Fortunately his music will live on, so him with us. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for his whole family.

What a loss but what a legacy. He was instrumental in my good self taking up the bass in the 60s. This also led to my daughter taking up the bass and is now a professional musician being very close to completing her degree at the Sydney Conservatorium. I am still playing today and enjoy the never ending challenge of learning the art of music that I now consider would take a few life times. Rest in Peace Mr Bruce.

Jacks bass playing was the solid foundation on which so much music was constructed, he was an inspirational blues vocalist and a great harp player.I saw him play with Graham Bond in the UK in the early days and became a fan of his work.A true innovater with his own sound and whatever group he played with you knew imediatly when Jack was driving a band.i will miss him.Love to Jacks Family so sorry for your loss. The first time I heard "I Feel Free" I knew music had changed. For those short minutes Jack's soaring voice and playing instilled in me a fleeting feeling of freedom. Jack was the power of music. And then when I heard Jack's intro line on "Badge" well...the earth moved. Thank you Jack Bruce.

Thanks so much for the great enjoyment we had by listening to his beautiful music and singing. I had the opportunity to see a live performance some 7 years ago in 'de Melkweg' Amsterdam after 40 years of only listening. It was a special experience and I will remember this as one most beautiful music live experiences thanks to Jack. May he rest in peace.

A sad day for music lovers everywhere, I first heard Jack with Cream when wearing short pants and bothering my parents with new wild and crazy music such as the Blues Breakers. A great musician who through trial, tribulation and triumph has left an indelible mark on the world. Farewell Jack and thanks.

I saw Cream at Torquay Town Hall in the mid-Sixties having listened to Jack's playing in various bands. He was an inspiration to take up the bass and I still frequently enjoy and marvel at his playing now. Unfortunately I did not realise the breadth of his musical skills and talents until recently. He will of course be greatly missed but he has left a musical legacy and influence far beyond the Cream years.Condolences please to all of his family. Thank you Jack, John Morton.

Jack Bruce has for the last 7 years been an inspirational influence on me, personally and on my work. I had the privilege of working with him on the Jack Bruce Wall sculpture at the Royal Conservatoire Scotland, in commemoration of his life and his contribution to music in Glasgow and the rest of the world. His generosity to me in providing me with research information for the project was much appreciated and his humility astonishing. I know the world has lost an incredible musician and person, but he will live on, I for one , will never forget him.
