First heard Cream when I was in junior high and have been playing bass ever since. Jack always was the best and it's hard to believe he's gone.

My sincere condolences to Jack's family. Jack's incredible playing was one of the main reasons I ever picked up a bass guitar. I have enjoyed his music (bass, voice, writing, harmonica, cello, etc.) for many decades. I will continue to enjoy it until it is my time to cross.

I missed seeing Cream in concert in the late 60's. But just a few years ago I was thrilled to see ( and hear) Jack Bruce in an outside venue in San Diego. It was billed the " hippie fest". Every song was thoughtfully chosen and performed beautifully.Thank you, Jack!!

A true loss to the music world. I, like many others, spent my youth trying to emulate his playing off the Cream albums. As I grew and found his music again it really opened my eyes to what an amazing musician he was. Thank you for all the inspiration Jack Rest in Peace Rick L.....

We were so sad at the loss of Jack. We have lovely memories in Pebmarsh - Jack played at our friends birthday party to many people who loved his music including ourselves, daughter Sarah and son-in-law Simon. Such an amazing musician and so modest. Just under a year ago we were talking to Jack and Margret on New Years Eve in the Kings Head - telling him our grandsons first song he learnt on the guitar was sunshine of my love - and to leave us with this lovely memory he said 'you have made my evening` and offered to give our grandson guitar lessons - what a generous nature. Not only had he given us the pleasure of his music in 60s.then on to our daughters and now to our grandchildren and many more generations to come. We are all thankful for the pleasure of his music and are very sad for his family at his loss - we send our love to you all.

We supported Cream very many times in the late 60's and I remember every gig. Jack Bruce was the epitome of a great Scots musician.. Great chops and creativity and innovative technique, great sense of timing and harmony, and an excellent fundamental bass player with a well-developed and unique style... Superb melodic ideas injected into and woven through his bass lines. A musician head and shoulders above millions of far lesser musicians and mortals..

Saw Cream many times in the 60s. An abiding memory of Jack was at (i think !) St Mary's College Twickenham. After their set the house lights came up and a Motown track started. Jack stayed behind on stage and played along to the track for those few of us left near the stage.

From the haunting, soaring falsetto of "We're Going Wrong", to the rhythmic, frantic bassline of "Dance the Night Away"; from "Spoonful" to "Tales of Brave Ulysses"; from "White Room" to "World of Pain"- Jack Bruce & his Cream mates delivered a message to this teenage boy & his buddies that we thought to be directly from the gods themselves. And that message is firmly & forever embedded in my psyche. And I am only one of millions. And now, he & his sound belong to the ages.....Good Night Sweet Prince....."Jack Bruce please!........"

I worked with Jack in 1966 at Caltech. I did not know he was famous for some time. He was playing jazz and some folk with Judy Collins at that time. He was a better friend to me than I was to him. Perhaps the best measurement of a man is how he treats an insignificant nobody like me rather than the great and mighty. He encouraged me to learn and like jazz. It was a sublime gift. Jack liked rocky road ice cream from Baskin Robbins. He is missed as a person as well as a musician.

Hi, I thought I had the measure of music as I have a couple of thousand vinyl albums and cds as diverse as anybody. I have Jack Bruce from the 'pirates in the North Sea' era to a compilation bought some years ago. But I realise I didn't delve deep enough. I've done that now and it's a joy to listen all over again. This guy is brilliance itself. Hopefully there will be more in the archives but I'm so impressed that the later stuff is as inventive and so seriously good as anything that went before. Quick remenisce: If memory serves, years ago I nearly came across Jack in person as I had my Saab looked after at a garage in Halstead and was told a 95 estate I parked next to was Jack's and he was due to collect it. It didn't happen and I don't remember why. I feel lucky to have enjoyed Jack's music for so long, thanks for the memories. Love and strength to the family and friends of the great man.

I remember seeing Jack with Ringo in 2000 or 2001 in Atlantic City. The concert was so good, we didn't leave in time to catch our bus, so we had to hire a limo to take us home. Later I saw the Cream reunion in 2007 at Madison Square Garden. It was amazing that 3 little old men could play so well, and so loud. Everyone was on their feet the whole time. I had 2 wonderful nights listening to Jack - thank you; may you rest in peace.

i saw jack and the cream in 1968 at oakville ct. jack was the man thatinspired me to,not play the bass, but the harmonica. when i heard him play train time,i wanted to play the harmonica like that.i listened to it a 1000 times until i could at least play some of it.and what a singer. i always thought he was one of the best voices in music.i introduced my daughter to jack playing theme for an imaginary western on piano.it has become one of her favorite songs.God bless you ( jacks family and friends). you can be sure ill never stop listening to jack. he sung and played bass, cello, piano, and harmonica with passion.

'Something' has been leading me, in the last two weeks, to 'catch up' on JB's music; that is, things I missed out on, or mainly missed out on (in vainly but happily trying to cover just about all the music, of every type, there is and ever has been), between Cream and Kip Hanrahan. It doesn't surprise me, then, that I learn only today, on Christmas Day 2014, that he died two months ago. Nor does it seem to matter. I'm just so glad (oh dear ...) to have increased my exposure to music he made - and I was glad before I heard of his death. If I say that at the very moment I learned of it, I was playing Harmony Row, it will sound incredible. Yet it is true. He was one of those veins that ran right through the now long history of the sort of music he helped bring into being nearly half a century ago; and if anything, such trivia as I report here may demonstrate that - somehow.

I was 15 in 1969. The hot music on my radar were all bands with great bass players, Tull, Hendrix, The Who and of course, Cream. Jacks bass playing on songs like 'I Feel Free' and N.S.U. turned me on to be a bassist. For 45 years I've been inspired by Jack.. not just for his bass but for who he is as a man and human being. He has always been gracious and loving. We are here to prepare our spirits and our souls for another life.... one of power and freedom and joy. Jack has graduated. My friends, God's light shines forever and Jack Bruce is part of that eternal light.

Jack was to the bass - what Miles was to the trumpet. Far more than a virtuoso, he continued to innovate - constantly binging new sounds, new ideas & talented emerging artists to the forefront. It was always a treat and a privilege to be in his company.

Jacks's passing has had a deep effect on me and I hadn't kept up with him since Sunshine of Your Love days. So I asked and got Silver Rails this Christmas. I have listened to the album, but not seen the DVD, and Jack,s voice came with me for a walk on the local Cotswold hill. This has inspired me to sit down and get back to writing some music, before... Thanks Jack.

Sincere thanks to Jack Bruce for the theme music to my formative years, inspirational bass playing and wonderful, powerful singing ahead of its time - I'm still listening, its as fresh as the day released. Your music lives on. Dick Graham
