Jack, when I first heard your music, I was 3. The radio turned on, and for the first time ever, I heard the beauty that is White Room. Everything complimented each other, Ginger's driving beat, Eric's tasteful guitar, but most of all your bass playing. I don't know why, but I just gravitated towards it. The years past, and eventually, I became a bassist. You have always been my biggest influence, and one of my favourite players. Thanks for the music, the memories, everything. Iam am very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. When I was 14, Disraeli Gears was released. It made a huge and lasting impression on me. It remained in my top ten all my life. At that time I knew Jack was an amazing bass player and singer but I did not find out till much later that he was the composer of much of Cream's work. I have been lucky to see Jack live a couple of times in recent years and knew I was in the presence of a very special musician and man. RIP Jack.

after my own Dad's funeral back in '89 all these relatives were at our house and i all of a sudden remembered that Jack was playing at the Bottom Line that night. even in my grief, i just went, and at one point, during Ginger's solo,i had tears in my eyes. i looked up and smiled as I had direct eye contact with Jack, and he smiled back at me. getting his autograph the year before was cool, but that smile was heartfelt for me. i feel the loss, and my condolences to his family.

I was 12 years old in the Summer of '67. Sunshine of Your Love was all over the radio and I thought it was the greatest song I'd ever heard! It made me want to learn to play the guitar and, eventually, bass guitar. So I listened to all of the other songs on Disraeli Gears and was totally blown away until I heard Wheels of Fire, and especially White Room. I feel so lucky to have grown up during that time with that music. All I can say is a heartfelt "Thank you, Jack." The next time I hear thunder, I'll know it's you playing up in rock & roll heaven.

This loss hits hard. As a young teen, Jack was my idol. I loved Cream, but it was Harmony and Songs that really turned my ear. I wore those LPs down to dust. I saw Jack a few times. The most memorable was at a club in Wilmington, Delaware in '77 I believe. I stood about five feet in front of Jack that night and I was in awe. I'll always be in awe. late 1970, november to be exact, i went to newcastle, the friday night, to see jack with LIFETIME. next night, edinburgh. my wife was expecting our baby, who became named, Tony Bruce. ! we later met jack, who was thrilled. i met him several times. top man, top musician. real family man too. best wishes to all the family, these are difficult days now. but the sun will shine again. it takes time.

Had the great privilege of sharing a few minutes with Jack and his family once last summer, although I regret to admit that I was so caught up in talking to Jack's son Malcolm, and granddaughter Maya, that I didn't realize he'd been stood next to me for 5 minutes until after I'd walked off! Amazingly, I listened to Live Cream Vol 1 and 2 over the weekend and was blown away, once again, by Jack's incredible bass playing and singing. Jack has been part of my musical life since the release of "Fresh Cream" that I listened to on my Uncle's eight track player in his Studebaker. My heart goes out to his family. I, too will miss him.

They say never meet your idols, but I was blessed to "hang" a few times with Jack Bruce ,for my money the greatest rock bassist of all time and an outstanding vocalist. On one memorable night in his hotel room he blasted out "Traintime" on his harp while I vainly tried to keep time slapping my knees, followed by lighting up some special cuban cigars he had. He was a magical maniac and I miss him already.

Saw Jack with Cream on May 11, 1968 (for $5.00) at the Akron Civic Theatre - one of the best and most memorable times of my life. Perhaps the greatest rock bass player, he was also one of the best vocalists in rock. It would have been a dream come true to have seen one of the reunion concerts.

Deeply saddened by the passing of one of my true musical heroes. My heartfelt condolences to Margrit, Malcolm and the entire extended Bruce family. I am a drummer and have drawn so much inspiration from Jack over the last four decades since first hearing his work with Cream and later Lifetime, to all his solo and collaborative output. Of course, I went back further to Graham Band etc. How I wished I could have played music with him. A drummers dream. There was always something incredibly solid, yet harmonically and rhythmically rich and improvisational in Jack's masterful bass playing that just grabbed me from the first time I heard it. Jack's beautiful piano playing, cello etc. Of course Jack's voice, so powerful, rich, vulnerable and emotive. When I heard about Jack's passing this past Saturday it really hit me. I immediately had to first listen to one of my many favorites, Folk Song. I wept. One can listen to his music endlessly and continue to be rewarded. Over the years I have been fortunate to have seen Jack perform close to a dozen times. So many memories and events stand out and remain fresh in my mind. The numerous Jack Bruce Band gigs in NYC. I was there when Eric sat in at The Bottom Line. When Ginger toured with the band in I believe 1993. The dream come true Cream reunion at MSG(two nights)and most recently 2012 with Spectrum Road at the Blue Note. Rest in peace Mr. Jack Bruce you will be forever missed by legions of fans. I have been blessed to have been on this earth while you were creating beauty on it.

I remember hearing White Room and Sunshine Of Your Love as a kid on the car radio and feeling at the beginning of each one that something special was about to happen as the music progressed. The music always did move me, even as recent as the last four months I take Cream's music with me in my car as I go to check on property around my city. My brother and I were lucky enough to see Cream in concert at Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta exactly 46 years ago today. I was changed forever. Cream was one of my greatest music influences and our own band used to play Badge and White Room in which I played drums. Now that I have gravitated to the bass over the last few years I have looked to Jack's dynamic style making it a primary instrument rather than just being pushed to the background. Mr. Bruce has pushed the bass guitar as a lead or primary level as very few have save for John Entwhistle or Paul Mc Cartney. Jack Bruce is the reason I became a professional musician. I used to memorize his bass lines to the jams that Cream recorded on their albums; on songs like "Sweet Wine", "I'm So Glad" and so many others. I remember my very first concert at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. Cream was at the height of their all too short collaboration. I was about 13 and thereafter measured all concerts. I will hang on to the memory of that concert forever. RIP, Jack knowing you impacted the lives of so many.

i was lucky to play keyboards with Jack on a two month American tour in 1988 with Pat Thrall and Anton Fier. Jack had always been one of my heroes growing up in South Africa so to get to work with the man in person was a very very big deal for me. I spent hours with my friends listening to Cream and Harmony Row and Songs For A Tailor while still living in Cape Town, so to eventually get to play many of those songs on tour with Jack himself was a dream come true and something I shall treasure for ever. RIP Jack.

As a garage band bassist I looked up to him as a hero, and literally stood at his feet and looked up at him when Cream played Winterland - transfixed by his virtuosity, his explosive energy and amazing, soulful voice. Kind wishes to Jack's family from a stranger. Now in my early sixties, I still play Jack's material regularly, which I first heard in high school nearly 50 years ago. For me, the live Cream material in particular, still uplifts without the need for chemical supplements, and Jack's voice and virtuosic playing is at the centre of it; confident, strident,challenging. My first born son was named after him. RIP Jack Bruce.

Jack was and still is my favorite bass player. He was a musical genius. I try to collect everything I can that he did, but that seems to be a never-ending quest. He did so much with so many people. I play the drums, and when I am looking for a bass player the first thing I always ask is "Can you play like Jack Bruce?" I haven't found anyone yet. We'll all miss Jack.

My sincerest condolences to Jack's family. So sad to hear of the passing of a truly amazing musician. Jack was the reason I and many others took up playing the bass and tried desperately to emulate his improvised lines without much success. The word 'legend' tends to be used too lightly, but for Jack, he could be the dictionary definition of it. Needless to say, there hasn't been much other music being played recently through my phone that doesn't have 'Jack Bruce' in the song writing credits.

Jack was, without a doubt, my favourite vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. I am very glad I could finally see him in concert in 2012, with Spectrum Road, here in Vancouver, and fortunate to meet him after the show. A highlight in my life, which I'll always remember. I've been playing guitar for the last 36 years, since high school, and decided to also learn bass because of Jack's musical influence. His album "Harmony Row" has been among my top 3 favourite records since I was 17, when I first heard it. Thank you for your music, Jack, and the joy you brought to my life, and to so many others. jack was more than a mere bass player, to me from the time I decided to play bass , I was in grammer school, Jack was one of. My professors, through listening , and playing along too his playing,,I was able to build a foundation , due to a learning disability, I was never able to learn to read music, but jack taught me through listening how to be a better bassist, still have trouble reading , but I will have jacks teachings for the rest of my life

After the HR Bigband had played "There Comes a Time" in Frankfurt at the German Jazz Festival, Jim McNeely told the audience of the passing of Jack Bruce. An immidiate feeling of great loss set on me. And one day later Colosseum's Mark Clarke and Clem Clempson paid tribute to Jack by playing "Sunshine of your love" and then Clem sended a kiss to the sky. What a wonderful gesture! Had the honour of seeing Cream on their first tour, at the New Cellar Club, South Shields. Remember them kicking off with NSU. Maybe didn't quite get it at that moment but have got it ever since. Irene and I discovered a copy of 'Wheels of Fire' in 1971 in a second-hand boutique called 'Astral Weeks' in Harborne, Birmingham. I was studying and Irene worked in the University. It almost never left the turntable. 'White Room' became our anthem - I am from Lancaster and the railway imagery and 'black-roofed country' so resonated with me - the flight South to the 'Hard Crowd' and world of celebrity and fashion - the White Room itself - and then, the music ....... and the voice, I had never encountered anything like this before, being raised, close as I was to Liverpool, on the Beatles, Dylan, Buddy Holly, the Yardbirds, Them etc. The combo was the pure magic history keeps falling over itself over, Clapton, Baker, Bruce and as wonderful as all are, it was Jack Bruce who has grown and grown in stature for me over the years - and 'White Room' has remained my all time greatest song. Imagine the wonder for me when I became part of a band only a few years ago and the thrill, every night we play, of being able to perform 'White Room' - which I gift to Irene every time and now will first gift it back to Jack Bruce. Then, a few weeks ago my seventeen year-old grand-daughter Lara asks, Grandpa, did you ever hear a song called 'Sunshine of your Love' - and so I now play that too, for Lara, but, now, again, for Jack Bruce. We also do Cream's version of 'Bad Sign' and always when driving our girls to school years ago at the top of our lungs we would sing 'Sitting on Top of the World'. Thank you Jack for everything - for always being there with your virtuoso bass and your voice welling up from the very soul of the blues and I am so very, very sorry that all that was your life has transitioned into an already overflowing reservoir of memories for your family and all others who were close enough to be a part of your wonderful gift of a life.

In April 1968 I was in the orcresta pit of the Back Bay Theatre in Boston and saw a great Cream Concert with Jack Bruce in front of me. Jack was great. Ginger Baker dropped a drumstick on the stage, and I was able to get it. That's when Jack said "easy pick-up". Thank you Jack for the music.

You were the best, Jack! The Cream of the crop. The bass playing in the live version of "I'm So Glad" on the Goodbye Cream album might be the greatest ever. My best friend and I would often turn off the right channel just to listen strictly to the bass in that song. Totally amazing. Rest in peace, Jack, your music will live on forever.

I never knew Jack Bruce personally, never met him, but he influenced my musical aspirations in more ways than one can imagine. It would be hard to imagine that any bass player hasn't been influenced by his music in one way or another. He will surely be missed.

Jack Bruce has been an inspiration throughout my life. Cream and Lifetime really opened my ears. I saw him play in a club in Glasgow back in 1983. His amp blew the first note he played, so he got his harmonica out and did a blistering version of Traintime. What a legend.

I was only about 12 years old when Cream formed, but the minute I heard Jack's gorgeous voice I was an instant fan. That he was classically trained awed me, and deepened the connection I felt to him. For the last seven years I have been following him on the Internet through his site, Pledge Music, and social media. Jack was always part of my day as I read his posts on the Facebook page and followed every link to interviews, videos, and news. I am now wandering around in a huge void, and I miss him deeply. To his devoted and loving family, I offer my heartfelt condolences, as well as thanks for helping Jack add to his legacy in this last decade. That he had these extra years to record new albums, write new songs, have a new biography written, do a Cream reunion, and have time to communicate so generously with his fans was a true gift for which I am grateful. RIP, dear Jack. We all love you and miss you. Sheri, your fan from the classical side....
